If you are going thru the effort to purchase a crankshaft sensor for a spare, you might as well purchase the camshaft sensor also. Same type sensor, just a different shape.

Thank you. I will order it with the transmission plug. Anything else I should consider. I have engine and cabin air filters and oil filter. Fixed cup holder. Soon to work on drivers heated seat. Bottom did not work on purchase and back only worked twice.

This thing is a real pleasure to drive.

Be sure your oil filter is the synthetic/fleece and not the run-of-the-mill paper filter. Both my seat heater bottoms don't work, but I hardly drive it in the cold weather so it is not a priority. But if I were to make the repair, I would consider an aftermarket heater, seems the OEM will fail again and again.

Good luck with your new toy! James

I learned here to get the fleece filter.

I wrote crankshaft when I was thinking camshaft. Which is the one that seems to fail.

It's my wife's toy and I keep telling her it's blocking my Miata. I might have to put Sta-bil in it. The Miata.

The CRANKshaft position sensor(back of engine, driver side, by bell housing) is the one that seems to fail most.... the camshaft sensor (on the upper front left of engine) will give similar symptoms to the crankshaft sensor when failing...because the ECU looks at them both in relation to timing pulses in order to start the car...

Make sure you keep a 1/4" ratchet, extension and the M8(?) star socket handy also...

OK. I know what I need so I look for CrossfireForum advertisers and sponsors. Who are they? The retailers that offer discounts. I like to spend my time and money within the group.

There is nothing wrong with the paper filters, I just would not run them for too many miles. The 2004's came with paper filters, and probably other years as well. Cars had paper filters for years with no problems, so no panic needed on that score.
The fleece filters are mandatory for the extended oil changes though.

Yeah, I get M's and E's mixed up..... if I could just remember that M is male and E is ewe, I would be okay.. but then I would have to remember what is on the car too.....
