Re: Mercedes C63 grill
Laugh every.ime I see a forum member try to make their XF into a Mercedes...
Why not sell the XF and buy a SLK? Was the XF cheaper ?
I went for the XF due to it's originality and low numbers. why try to make into a mercedes that everyone knows about? It's like having a Lotus or Maserati trying to make it look like a Ferrari ..
just my 0.02$

Re: Mercedes C63 grill
you can put the star on it...but it is not a Mercedes. It has AMG driveline, and Karmann built, so where does the Mercedes people come in? Am I missing something? Every car builder today buy parts from vendors, vendors that make parts for all makes and models...and the end product finally get a badge of somekind, Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, etc....I don't mind showing a little AMG pride, but I don't get the MB connection I guess. Now MB's SLK's with that AMG drivetrain, I get that....lol And, I like that...but, not built by Karmann from what I understand.

Hi,
My Chrysler Crossfire '05 N/A Limited uses MB sourced mechanicals and electrical systems. Karmann built it along with the MB CLK convert. and the Audi A4. The Crossfire was not built BY Chrysler but FOR Chrysler. Daimler was pulling all the strings back then. From what I've read (ALLPAR.COM
), Chrysler wanted to build the Crossfire in the plant that the Prowler was made at but Daimler insisted on using MB parts and outsourcing the build to Germany.
I still wouldn't put the MB star on it though. Now a Karmann badge would look cool!
