You mean never ever buy a car like this after its been leased. Us crazy people lease them, drive the **** out of them, and take them back just before they are ready to fall apart. :twisted:

MOST American cars are not worth keeping after the lease end, so we shall see about this German/American car!

Usually leasing an american car to begin with isn't a good idea. Since american cars depreciate alot quicker than an import, it is typically more expensive to lease an american car, than it would be for an equivilent import car. But this crossfire lease special is very unusual for an "american" car.

My Crossfire is a blessing 'cause since I had it after a failed in vitro fertilization to have a baby...And guess what, my wife is now pregnant - the NATURAL way

I was thinking of keeping my Crossfire for my child since this is only a recreational car...and maybe it'll be a great classic by then after 16 years?

I think the amount of Crossfires still unsold and the few that are seen, is because the Crossfire obviously appeals to a limited purchasing market.And there are other competitive vehicle in its class. I'm surprised at all the lease talk, though, as it would seem to be, as it is to me, a toy- type purchase and not as one's primary vehicle that, as at least one forum member would say, beat the **** out of turn it in a lease end.

I think leasing is ideal for the person that wants a new car every few years. So for me, leasing a car and driving the **** out of it, and taking it back for a new "toy" is ideal. I never have to worry about repair costs cause I'll always have a warranty. Don't get me wrong, I do take care of my cars, very well infact... washing, waxing, oil changes, maintenance, etc. I just drive them hard. And yeah my crossfire is my "primary" vehicle. If the weather is bad or I need a back seat, I take the cherokee, but with teh cherokee set up for rock crawling, it doesn't have very good road manners and its fun factor on the road is very low. On the trail is where I have fun with that thing.

I would always lease ,because the factory takes the loss, not the leasee if the car is not worth thepay off plus unless you dont' drive it you're better off to get anew one after 40000 miles why drive an old car?It ends up costing the same to drive an old one!As a new one!Here in ventura they have 50 cars xs' at 1 dearler! I wish i had waited!The 299.lease is a great value ,Only !0 a day compare that to any car you could have 2 xs'

Good points, however anyway you dice-it or slice-it, leasing is more expensive. The only benefit, realistically, is that you need a very low down-stroke, if any, and the payments are usually lower.

The down-side is -you own nothing, mileage and care of the vehicle is usually an issue, and your STUCK for a specific period of time, ie, 39 months!!!

At least if you purchase, you're in control-not the contract!!!!!!

You've never got alease before,?The dealer and factory know you will be looking,they have the same incentive to keep the custumer.I've always had goodluck with a lease ,If i bought it you lose more.only pay sales tax on the payments not the total!

the market will be only worst when there is more used xs' when the leases come in!The factory knows every angle to keep the customer.Benz is always advertizing their lease value over other cars that are cheaper.Hence the $299. lease!

I'll admit, some lease deals are not worth while. If you don't catch a good lease promotion, you can end up paying more than it would have costed to just purchase the car and sell it 39 months later. But the current lease special they have on the crossfire is unbeatable.

$2300 down + tax on depreciated amount
Crossfire = $300/month
350Z = $550/month (approx)
RX8=$450/month (approx)
And the crossfire had the highest sticker price!

As for being stuck with the car for 39 months. That is not so. Depending on the lease contract you can get out of any lease by simply paying the difference between what the car is worth and the sum of the residual value plus remaining payments (plus a small "processing" fee of a few hundred dollars). My previous car was on a 39 month lease and I turned it in for the crossfire after 31 months. I even made $1000 from the trade (the car was worth more than the residual plus remaining payments). Granted, if you trade in a car within a few months of aquiring it, you're going to lose alot, whether its leased or purchased.

in the uk it might cost that much. the 04 crossfire coupe lists at around $49K USD in the UK. but i would guess our friends in the UK would see close to $65K (USD) on the srt sticker
