Crossfire vs Porsche Panamera
When I first saw pics of the Porsche Panamera, I immediately thought it had a strong resemblance to the crossfire. For several months, I have wanted to get some profile pics of both cars together. Yesterday I finally did and I thought the results were pretty interesting.
They don't look THAT much different, do they?

However, when taken from a different angle, the Panamera absolutely dwarfs the crossfire. It almost makes the crossfire look like a scale model of itself!

Though the real reason for the photo shoot was that I spent Friday afternoon detailing the car for the summer and wanted to take some new pics. This was among my favorites:

It would be interesting to see a photoshopped version of the Porsch with the back doors (roll down window) section removed....and of course the rear door handles too.

I'm not seeing any similarities at all, except the color and the generic jelly-bean shape seen on a multitude of cars. The CF has front wheels pushed out to the corners, the rear side glass turns down rather than up.
I'd have to believe the Porsche would be a much smoother ride with that longer wheelbase.

No doubt Porsche likes the Crossfire rear design. I came up behind a Panamera on the freeway today and had to get right on it before I saw it was not what I thought.
Porsche is a hell of a car - but all these pictures showed me was a beautiful Crossfire next to an (sorry but...) ugly Porsche.
Yea, that's right, I don't like the Panamera. Just bein honest.
The black Crossfire coupe is a stunningly attractive car.

Many nights ago I had a dream I was driving my crossfire but the interior had the seat setup of a 3-row wagon. It retained the sport look of the crossfire but made the car more usable IMO. So when I got up that day I spent the morning conceptualizing a family Crossfire. It really did end up looking like a Panamara. Mind you this was well before the Panamera came out, so many nights must have been many months ago.
When the Panamera came out I loved the car immediately and I did notice the rear resemblnace to our cars. And even though Porsches are already great all-around cars, the Panamera only made it easier for men to con their wives into getting a Porsche. And that interior is opulent, very yacht-like as it was intended. I really like the navy blue/oyster interior combo.
I've always had weird taste in Porsches anyways and always preffered models like the 928, 968, Cayenne, and Cayman. The beloved 911's are great looking but not for me.
But on the topic of Crossfires, it would have been great to see the model have done well enough to create a side brand with a 4-door option to compliment the Limiteds, SRT, and even the Gotham City-esque base.

By the reasoning on this thread...every fastback car looks like our car. Now...if you want to go that route, maybe the rear of our car looks like the old Saab 92. Or any number of cars built before ours such as the Delahaye or the Atlantique which were built back in the 30s. There's no sense comparing apples and strawberries. Unfortunately our cars are worth all of about $9,000 and even a wrecked Porsche of any year will bring more than that.

What makes the crossfire look like many older cars is its proportions. Anything with a long hood and sloping rear does have a resemblance to the crossfire. The 92 doesn't have these proportions. An MGB GT would be a better choice, though not quite as elegant, IMO.
