No Taillights !!! Help
Recently I have my BAS light come on ( which I wasn't worried about ) but notice when I brake it will have the BAS light and also the icon for a light out . I had someone check and non of my brakes work when this is happening . It doesn't happen all the time ex I'll go to work and everything will be working fine but on the way hold it will go off at some point .
Had anyone had this problem ?
Had anyone had this problem ?
I thought bout the brake fuse but the lights work for the most part just seems to go out in the evening when I'm going home mid way home . They will be fine leaving work but later go out and bas light comes on
I would think it sounds like some sort of short, maybe a wire's insulation has frayed or become worn away and is touching something, just a thought because of the intermittency of the issue.
(is intermittency a word? LOL)

My money is on the relay being a bit sticky or having bad contacts. With luck it could just be the pins are a bit oxidized but I doubt it.
I'm in agreement with 180, I would look at the relay or Brake switch first as the cause.
It would help to have a second pair of eyes monitoring the Brake lights, as you play in this area.
If it was an intermittant short, it would depend where in the wiring circuit it was occuring.
If it was a short between the power source and switch, I think you'd get a BAS or Light out indicator, without touching the Brake Pedal.
If the short was where it picks up the ground to light the lights, you'd need the pedal depressed.
I guess what I'm saying is if you eliminate the Fuse, Relay, and Brake switch, and suspect the wiring (a short), you'd need to look carefully at the wiring diagam and the symptoms, this will help to narrow where the issue might be.
An intermittant short might not necessarily blow the fuse, it may just complete the circuit, and light the Brake lights (falsely)...
