Default My Crossfire used as a home

My wife returned to Hawaii on Wednesday and picked my car up from the storage place. Took the Cover off and went to start it. Battery was dead. The storage place was suppose to start it once a week. Well they didn't. When My wife took a closer look at the dash board there were tons of little clear ants. They have made my car their new home. She is going to take it to get detailed tomorrow hopefully that helps. Any Ideas??

I think you should have a pest control co. possibly fog the entire car, like a bug bomb and basically delouse it. They got in everywhere and detailing it will only spruce up their home. Otherwise you'll never get rid of the little buggers.

Sorry to hear about the ants....and how long did the car sit? I store mine for 5 months every year without starting it and she cranks over like it was just yesterday. You may have an amperage draw somewhere.

A while back I had accidently left an empty can of soda in my Miata's cup holder for the whole work day. I got into the car and started the engine. I drove out of the lot and somehow disturbed the can. Many large carpenter ants came streaming out of the can and onto my hand.

Like a live grenade I through the can into the woods. My one and only time I littered but it was distracting me from driving safely.

My remedy was completely cleaning the car inside and out. Even after that I would see one here and there. I bought a set of ant cups and put them under my seats. I never saw them again.

Detailing your Crossfire is great move. Let them take care of the little critters.

Just wash the car and drive it. Let it sit in the sun a few hours and get hot. Those ants will eventually leave! I wouldn't bomb the interior unless it was really bad.

I agree i would rather go this route then to let a can of that stuff loose in the car. Let alone the smell will be unbairable.

Glad to hear the problem is with ants and NOT financial problems forcing you to use the car as a home!

I had a lot of black widows under my Jaguar after I let it sit for a time. Be careful.

Well I am home and come to find out it was flying termites. My wife did use a Bug bomb. She said it smelled like baby powder. After the 4 hour bomb she said there must of been close to an inch of dead termites on the floor boards and in the trunk area. My Crossfire sat for 12 months. After the storage site gave her a jump it started right up. Replaced the battery and she is running great. Now time to get back out on the road and enjoy my baby.
