Older guys love my car
I thought kids in the 8-15 age group were the biggest fans of the XF but I keep experiencing older guys, 60-up diggin on my car. Today in bumper to bumper traffic, an old lincoln along side me kept honking. I finally looked at him and it was a couple in their 70's. The guy was pointing at me and giving me a thumbs up! Totally unexpected.
last week I stopped by my daughter in laws work to check out a fender bender she had the night before. I was getting back in my car and there were 4 older guys standing about 30 feet away just staring at Nina.
Ive had several occassions where seniors would walk to the front and back trying to figure out what the car is. (Ive skull decals over the chrysler emblems)
Its even better now that Ive debadged her too.

2 weeks ago I had a guy wait by my car until I got out to ask me what it was. Used a line from Liberty1 and told him its a very rare mercedes.
I wonder if the color attracts different types?

I think it depends on what XF you are driving. I get a totally different type of attention in the yellow roadster vs. the SRT coupe. Could be a color thing too -the yellow really pops. In the roadster I get a lot of kids & women saying they love it & how pretty it is. In the SRT I have had guys honk their horn to get me to roll the window down so they can tell me how awesome it is. Both cars have been to visit my car dealerships & the dealers are split - some like the yellow curb appeal & others are fans of the hp.
I just think the most important thing is that we are gracious. I always realize the we represent our whole community & I want people to associate nice people with XF's

I am learning to only show the cars that have a class for them...the old guys, even my old age, really don't care for them...they like their old humdrum muscle cars, and rat rods...I've been around them too much in my time...I like to be different....put it in a modern muscle class..and they win...people who understand their engineering judge them...not someone loving a '41 ******...or whatever...
I took the SRT over to a local shop to talk about installing the new diff and he was loving it... I am guessing he is late 30's or so... questions on engine, type of SC, etc....
he was pretty shocked when I told him what it does at the track and the dyno numbers...
I have gotten many comments on how much they like the car and the REALLY like Aero Blue color.....

Mike I have experienced the same type reactions at shops. At the shop that does my dyno's they are always talking about the power curve and how quickly the tq numbers climb vrs what they normally see. One guy said "man that car makes square horse power". It is fun to watch all the excitement the Crossfire generates in a shop that regularly produces up to 800+ rwhp Supras. All the techs have asked to ride in the car LOL.
BTW when I drop by the shop at least one of those Supras are always in getting something fixed from the effects of 800+rwhp. The last one had a piston and rod break into 100's of pieces. They proudly displayed the carnage as an example of the power they make? Go figure.

Uhhhhhh. Have you noticed that this board has quite a few of us "seniors"? I was 70 when I decided on a Crossfire, and that was after 67 Vette, 69 442, 70 Spitfire, 64 A-H 3000, 59 Morris Minor, 60 Vette......and my most loved utility vehicle, 1960 Corvair Van with a mid engine 327.......And these only go back about 15 years.
As apparently one of the few female owners here (and not because my husband bought one for me so I wouldn't drive his
), I get more notices from younger guys who (I guess) wonder if the car is mine or belongs to one of my kids (got none so therefore I don't have to share). Plus she's that lovely brilliant red, and living in the Tx/Mx border, sort of stands out in a stubby way against the sea of ginormous trucks. I think that I've seen a handful of other XFs in my area, but I think I'm the only red one.
People ask me more about how fast she is (fast enough) and what kind of car it is, and wow! it's a 6-speed? And if I really like it - of course. Part of being 'seasoned' is that I don't have to drive a car that looks like everyone else out there.

Getting out of that car gracefully....lol.....
We old trucker types like watching you get out them there itty bitty cars....lol....
I know, "Dirty Ole' Man", that I am....lol

Ive found that its the 30-50 set that comments most on mine. Also, Ive noticed more comments of approval from people on my new Alabaster vs. my past SSB coupe. With the cedar/slate interior, it is striking.
