Cool Sparkplugs

Well i just changed all 12 of my sparkplugs at 72,000k, my knuckles are red and im ready to chainsaw the car, but the power increase is amazing and my gas mileage is awesome again but still idk what idiot decided to put the rear plugs 2 inches away from the heat shield and manifold...... it took 2.5 hours but it was worth it lol

Dude! I started this project and ran out of time! After removing the heat sheild could you get at the plugs with ease? What all did you remove and how many swivles and socket extentions did it take lol I used a total of 4 pieces to get the easy six out !

Haha, you youngsters. The plugs in these cars are so easy, everything about the crossfire is easy to work on.

You just have to go to Harbor Freight and get the socket extension kit with the really short extension. You need to take the coil packs off too.

Try the 8 plug Ford 4 banger, that's a good one!

Use a short length of fuel line like 3/8th inch ID to start and remove the plugs when they are broken free. Coil packs come off first. Woody

Hey now I maybe young but I have always done everything on the cars I have owned. Two transmissions went into a chrysler cirrus with these hands! Thus far everything about the crossfire has been easy this is the first time I have run into a time consuming job with the car yet. I have taken the coil packs off but even still my mittens are to big to fit down in beside the heat shield. I will be giving it another go next weekend. I to much going on to attempt this week or weekend good to hear the power gains were noticable I'm getting some rough idle at higher temps I'm hoping this solves the issue otherwise I'm at a loss...

it is not super easy and not difficult easier...

Got some blood on my right had after being done. still have a scar...

Well once it is done, of course you understand the easy way to do it... in case you have to do it in a couple of years. Which you wont remember at all what ere the tricks...

I will change my sparkplugs every 20k

For any kind of reason, I dont believe the sparks... being able to do 100k... sure yeah right...

at 32k, mine were ok and a bit dirty too, since it has been changed... no horsepower gained, of course but a better runnning/functionning car....

No disrespect meant by my post. Try finding a really short 3/8 extension for the back 2 plugs. Go slow and try to have fun doing it.

Must we use bad language in a thread title?

Also, is it really needed to change spark plugs every 20K miles?!?!?!?

According to the service manual the plugs are good for 100k..... I wouldn't run mine that long.... in fact I just changed them last week with about 25K on them.....

The old ones needed re-gaping and cleaning but would probably work fine....

The first time I pulled my spark plugs for the fun of it, I cussed a little too. After doing it once the second time was easy. Nothing fancy needed. Pliers to pull the boots off and a short extension, plug socket and ratchet ........ and calm patience.

You probably had another jaw dropping moment when you had to pay for said spark plugs and full synthetic oil. At 26 years old I know I would have. This thread starts with a 19 yr.old and now a 26 yr. old. You youngsters are smart and very fortunate to have this nice little(and well built)performance car like this at your age. Glad to hear your maintaining them well, drive safe. Pick your spirited driving locations wisely.
