I was looking at purchasing a 2004 Limited Coupe last night. Has 65K miles.
I show up to review the vehicle and find the following:
1) Rusted passengers front rim and all rims have met curbs.
2) Severely rusted pulleys.
3) Small amount of rust under doors due to known water issues.
4) Reverse and first gears are notchy.
5) Rear hatch "fingers" have worn off the paint and rust has developed.
6) Rear hatch latch, handle, and surrounding area are rusted. Requires extra force to release. The paint is bubbling up around the latch and I can see rust inside the hatch frame.
7) Leftover flimsy amp rack and wiring in hatch area.
8) Loud "thunk" from hatch area when shifting gears.
9) Low tire pressure warning light.
10) Stability control warning light.
The test drive was OK, but the engine seemed to be missing a little low end. The suspension rattled quite a bit, but was not loose or floating. A/C was good and all switches worked.
Now, the vehicle was listed at 11,995 in the ad. After the test drive and inspection, i offered 8K. I was promptly told I was way off and that they could easily pull 10-12K.
I believe I was accurate in my assessment but wanted others assessment.
Thanks,

Don't walk away
RUN!
Sounds like a flood victim or stored in a humid garage.
If they are selling the car in this condition one could assume they got it as good a they could. Why assume you could bring it farther?
Run.
Heres one. Stake your nine grand on one like this. there are plenty around.
Chrysler : Crossfire | eBay
Likely someone here would check it out for you.
Two years ago I paid less than $8K for a red coupe 6spd with 70K on the clock. It was awesome and ran as good as my 06 with 25K.
Once rust starts, you realy cannot stop it. Stay away from those.

I have a 2004 automatic 55K automatic great condition that I'm going to list on the internet soon. Needs new tires and the alarm thing silenced again. Something only my local garage can do.?? Some curb rash on the wheels from my wife! I'd consider any reasonable offer over 10K Ira J 585-734-8326 Located in Upstae New York shiphapp@rochester.rr.com If interested I will send some pictures and more info.

Thanks,
I would run..........very fast and very far...........
Plenty of other good cars out there. Better to go elsewhere, even if it's beyond "local"..........
Not sure what those people are on, but given what you noted about the vehicle, I wouldn't give them 3 for it..............

Thank you all for your help. Unfortunately, I ended up going a different direction as I needed a little more room. I love the Crossfire and may come back later.
Again, thank you all. You quickly educated me and were helpful with every question.
