Default Crossfire replacement body parts almost impossible to find

Hi All,

I was recently in an accident with my xfire. I was side swiped by a truck. He didn't see me. I am ok but my xfire isn't so lucky. So long story short my xfire has been sitting at a shop for almost two weeks now. There seems to be no fenders or bumpers available. At first I thought the shop guy may be giving me some story, but being that the xfires aren't being built anymore is this credible? Insurance and rental cars aside, am I doomed to reside in xfire parts limbo? Here are some pics if you can stomach it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Those are some ugly and depressing pix.

I did a quick search on eBay Automotive for 'Crossfire Fender" and came up with the following hits:

crossfire fender | eBay

I'm sure if you vary your Search, other needed items will surface.

Couldn't hurt to pass these along to the shop...

*** Just noticed your location as NYC...What shop are you using...??? I'm in Queens, if the timing is right, maybe we should hook up... ***

There have been more than a few of our cars totaled out due to lack of repair parts. You are going to have to get directly involved in the parts search. Good luck.

www.car-part.com

^^Great place to start looking... select the year, panel needed from the drop down boxes. Let the web do the work for you!

You'll need to paint an OE part anyways, so some gentle refinishing isn't out of the question and shouldn't prevent you from buying salvage. At least they're 99% likely to be Genuine OE pieces...

Thanks for everyone's feedback thus far.

JHM2K, I have been trying that website you recommended.
I have located parts for the car. Its a start in the right direction.
Now to find an honest reliable shop that will promise results.

I just used that site, and have had several hits for a door, but was able to locate a skin...so, once the insurance company does their thing, we will make her whole again...

I'm in the process of fixing one right now, turning John's original white bumper blaze red. I bought a brand new radiator, shipped to Ky from California for $72.99. Cheapest Crossfire part I have seen yet.

I got hit last June - no problem getting inner & outer deck panels, bumper, insignia, etc., but have just been told it will be October before the exhaust parts come in.

So finally get my crossfire back only to find issues with my locking mechanism. The locks go up when I am driving and the console light comes on. I feel this has happened because of the door that was repaired. It was on the drivers side. When I close the door it seems to reset the locking mechanism but then creeps up later during driving. The locks go up and the center console light flutters. When I try to open and lock the door it doesn't function after the center console lights come on.

But the car looks good as new.

I just hope the lock problem can be fixed. Nothing like locks opening up during driving at 60 mph or higher at random.

I would be open to any suggestions in case it may not be the replaced drivers door.

There is a switch attached to the door lock and if you open the locked door with the key the interior lights come on before you even open the door. This is the same as using the remote opening feature, except this switch is not directly involved in remote operation.

This switch is in the circuit that the pneumatic locking system works on. Somewhere in this circuit there is probably the problem.

Is it possible that this switch is shorting out? Or the pump in the trunk is wet or faulty.
