This one was posted on FB today.
The driver only suffered a bruise to his femur.
Amazing that was all that happened to him.

In his words:
Headed south in a snowstorm at 30mph.
Hit from behind by pickup doing 65, pushed into oncoming traffic, a semi.

And covering it with plastic seemed like a good idea.

Tony, why would the air bag deploy in a rear end collision?
Isn't that what your "head rests" take care of?

uh, oh. Suddenly I feel like I'm in too deep. What've I gotten myself in for ? Should I park her in the garage and throw away the key ? or start preparing now by gathering yet unneeded parts ? Hyenas might be more like it, they're the more thorough of the scavengers, consuming the skeleton and all. Tell me that you don't drain the bodily fluids first !

It looks like another Crossfire took one for the team and saved the driver.

He was driving in the snow with those tires? They look worn to near slicks in the picture.

They do not look any better when the photo is enlarged.
To be lucky you do not have to be smart.

What is scary is that this was almost me and my car yesterday.. I was headed home and there was typically really bad traffic and I hear this tire squealing and look back in my rear view mirror and there is this huge semi truck that is barrelling down on me with smoke coming from his tires all over the place.. I thought for sure I was a gonner.. I already had the car in first gear and had enough room in front of me to be able to floor it and pull off into the left hand shoulder.. otherwise I would have been toast.. he stopped within inches of the back bumper of the car that was in front of me..

I am seriously thinking of putting red led lights all around the back window of my car that flash when I push my brake pedal.. this is the second time that I have almost been rear ended.

Again, I have to ask, WHY would the air bags deploy when there was no front end damage?

Your head rests keep you from getting "whip lash" in a rear end accident.

In 1965, my Mother and Father were driving home and had just crested a hill at around 35 mph, when a few moments later, a guy driving a 1962 Buick Wildcat convertible doing 100 mph crested the same hill and collided with them without ever hitting his brakes.
His passengers told Police he had been drinking, and he told them he could reach 100 mph by the top of the hill, and that's exactly what he did.
My Dads "Demo" was repaired, and sold as new, but the Buick was totaled.
Fortunately my Parents walked away with only sore necks and shoulders for a week or two
