Your head rests keep you from getting "whip lash" in a rear end accident.

In 1965, my Mother and Father were driving home and had just crested a hill at around 35 mph, when a few moments later, a guy driving a 1962 Buick Wildcat convertible doing 100 mph crested the same hill and collided with them without ever hitting his brakes.
His passengers told Police he had been drinking, and he told them he could reach 100 mph by the top of the hill, and that's exactly what he did.
My Dads "Demo" was repaired, and sold as new, but the Buick was totaled.
Fortunately my Parents walked away with only sore necks and shoulders for a week or two

I understand what you are thinking but, if the car which to me has been through a terrible "jolt" the rear of the car should have at least set off one of the door bags? I wasn't thinking of the front 2 bags... just the sides. Might be the squarest hit from the back. Hope they had no luggage back there.

Only the seat belt tensioners would have fired off. The front air bag sensors are in front of the car and are activated by a force coming from certain angles at the front of the car. Likewise the side air bags from certain angles at the sides. The seat belts are activated by front or rear forces. You do not need an air bag activating unless you are being thrown forcefully toward it.

The system is explained in the repair manual and is worth a read. This is the first time I did read it, thanks for giving me the incentive to do so, let's hope we never have to test it.

Shame it wasn't an SRT6 rag top....Out of the 928 (Chrysler figures) there are only around 650 left in the US(someone's guess). A lot of them are still across the pond.
See some of you later at TX Motor Speedway.

Damn! My nephew has a CBR1100RR that I take out for a spin now and then. If I didn't care about dying soon, I'd own one. That thing is brutally fast to the point where it's difficult to ride almost.

Every Japanese engineer at work speaks better English than that, and none of them have been here even 3 years.
