Default Fram Air Filters

Advance Auto has a Fram air filter that can be ordered from their website for $14.39. I'm pretty sure this is a box of 2. If you order $100 worth of stuff you get $20 off & no shipping charge for orders over $75. You also get a coupon for $50 off your next purchase....(can't be used on oil).

Anyone ever buy the Fram CA9689 ? Is it a box of 2....? Website is a little unclear about that...

Well that deal fell through, tried to order 7 at $14.39, the Advance site calculated as $100.73 ....subtracted $20...= $80.73......gave free shipping....+ no tax.......then said the item was on back order & unavailable.

Ordered 2 sets from Amazon.com, about $13 / set + tax.....free shipping.....2 sets of 2/box ....with tax they should be delivered for a total of $29.58.

From the Chrysler Parts website 1 set would have been (with shipping) almost $40.

Oops! I should have checked my old OEM filters so this was all wrong.
So I deleted the post.

I replaced the one's on the 07 this morning with a new set of Mann filters. The Frams will be for future use.

I replaced them when the odometer said 33K & now again at 68.5 K. Don't ask me why but I kept the originals...

& I have it & the one's I just took out in front of me. They are both Mann filters.....the original OEMs say

Mercedes Benz A 112 094 03 04 & in smaller letters say Mann Filter C 2861 Germany 070115
These originals & the 2nd set of Mann filters both have the bar across the middle...just like the picture of the Frams.

Yeah, I did the post and then checked my old filters in the old engine cover. Oops. I corrected my post just as you posted, but the K&Ns are a different story I believe.

I compared the Fram with this, and other than the Fram is not marked Mercedes Benz ... the quality looks the same, and I just thought that i"IF IT LOOKS LIKE A DUCK, QUACKS LIKE A DUCK, YA DA YA DA. I put the Frams in ...... and happy so far....

EDIT: anybody got a pic of a K & N filter?

Edit: I just went on K & N website, and the picture of their filter for our car, shows NO middle bar accross the body of it.

I would think that any filter that claims to allow a greater air flow would most likely allow larger paticles to pass through.....unless there was (for instance) just one straight piece of filter material (not the dozens of pleats)....but then the life expectancy would be short before it would clog up.

When you think about it ....as a filter accumulates stuff on the surfaces...it probably only allows smaller & smaller particles to pass. So I would guess as it's used it actually filters better....but the volume of air moved would be decreasing.

But then my thought processing may be deteriorating as I just became a grandfather this week!!!
