Get ready to need new tires as well

Have fun out there and let us know what you think. Very addicting stuff with virtually none of the risk of proper road course racing.
1 question: Is it smarter to race with or with out traction control? I'm pretty good at handling a small spin out and i don't like how the engine lets off power.

How did you end up choosing?

I left mine on at the Superspeedway... I figured I'd forfeit a half-second of speed to keep the car shiny-side up

With the lower speeds of a cone course, I don't think it will hurt you to take it off...

Although I probably drift (a lot) more than I should, I like racing with the traction control off. I'm still working on it, as i didn't get much practice in today.

They say that if you're spinning, you're not accelerating... but these cars understeer so much, a bit of spin helps bring the line back around. I think you're good to go

I really agree with that statement...the wavetrac has solved some that problem though

Well I raced today for my first time Autocross. I think I did alright for it being my first time out there. My time was pretty consistant on the runs with and with out traction control. Although i found myself fish tailing right over a cone on my last run today.

Had a lot of fun though, unfortunetly the season is over in Kansas after the next meet in 2 weeks and i'm not sure if my schedule will permit me to attend.

By the way it was awesome and i suggest every look for their local SCCA. It was a blast, you will see every kind of car out there and it's tons of fun.

How did you do against other cars in your class?

I always AutoX with the TC off, but I have yet to pull the fuse for a proper disabling, some of the turns are so tight, you must spin the back around to be quick, but John is correct, usually if you are spinning, you are losing time. It is wild though, when we did our last driving school, two of the instructors, both national level AutoXers, have totally different schools of thought. One said if you can hear tire and spinning, time is being lost, another pushed his car so hard, there was seldom a time he wasn't spinning or drifting through a turn. Damn near equal times, consistently between the two, but 2 completely different styles.

Find your style, get comfortable with the car, and it is a very fun low risk activity that gets the adrenaline flowing.

I'm not sure. I seemed to do pretty average. I felt pretty good about it for it being my first time around. When the results are posted online i will see how i actually did in comparison.

One car that stuck out in my head was HS class base mini cooper. That car was pulling the same times are corvettes with slicks.

Have not met my limits yet! On the fall Dragon run, I did pretty well with the SRT's and MB in my group. I got one helluva compliment from Pizzaguy about my keeping up with folks and my tires only screeched twice the whole run. T/C was enabled, nothing turned off. What a rush (and Ray was scared crazy too)! Love my XF!!!

I think i ran with 2 or 3 Colbalt SS's which im sure gave me a good run for my money. Most of them were running while i was working the cones so I didn't see their time.

DS class, i would of got blown away. They but me in the STO6 and I came in 7th out of 15. Not bad i guess for my first run. I really want to tune up my suspension before next year seasons. I would love to find some wheels i could put slicks on as well.
