Finally met my limit in this car...
It was raining a little the other night and I was coming home from work. Well I was at my old stomping grounds at 3 in the morning so I figure its safe to practice with the car. Turn off tc and the first turn I get sideways almost completely, no help from the computer, only doing like 15 or 20, and I'm not the best driver in the world but not bad so I got her back under control, not easy though. Just wondering what other people have done to test their personal limit in their car, because this have me more respect for how raw this power can be.

I haven't done much. I did throw the backend out on a culdesac one day to see how much force it took to break traction. I was somewhat impressed.
Interstate speed of 145mph over a bridge one night. No traffic, obviously, but I'd like to not see that speed on a public road again.. occasionally pushed to 120+ but for very short periods of time, I would prefer not to see a jail cell.

Fastest I've done outside of a Police car (ride along) was in my '04 XF 6 speed. 103 mph down hill on an 8% grade on I-40 (E) going into Harmon Den en-route to Asheville, NC. at 10:30 a.m. I must say, rahtha bracing ol' chap! 'twould make a great Dragon segment!

I NEVER play on a wet road. I've had mine at 145 many times. I've had two or more wheels off the ground twice (no more tho, afraid of crack'n one). I play most dry week days. I'm old and don't have much time left so I gotta play as much as I can.

As for me...
I was running with Jason, Nick, TexasT and them on the Skyway during the last Dragon. Felt the rear end slide doin about 80 in one of those curves. That went beyond my skill level - it wasn't due to horsepower, it was due to too much speed for that curve.
Got to 109 on the interstate with the Red Roadster one afternoon - after I ran southbound to check for LEOs. Turned around and got to 109, held it there maybe 1/2 mile and slowed her down. The car sure handled and rode well at that speed! It was kinda hard to believe I was going that fast.
Pizzaguy
(and when Beaner reads this: YES, I was looking at the MPH scale, not KMH.
)
Whipped a U turn at 55mph today. Wife was following me with our newborn in her jetta and she made a turnoff to a gas station. Thought something might of been wrong.
On my way back from Oklahoma with my wife today some leaves started smoking in my engine bay so i pulled off after a toll booth. I was cruising 80-120mph to catch up to her. Passed a cop doing roughly 85 in a 65. He flashed his high beams and Turned on his Blue/Reds but thank god he didn't turn around.

Stopped looking at the speedo at 135 on a "closed course"...Learned the limits of the car very well after daily driving it for 3 years, usually drive listening to classical music to keep me calm lol.

I'm running an HPDE tomorrow at Nashville Superspeedway's road course... So I'll report back after that
On a Mexican road, after I got the Eurocharged tune to remove the limiter, and with the AMG gauges' new limits, I hit ~165 (had to stay in it for a stupid amount of time though). I say "approximately" 165 because it's understood that OEM gauges lose their exactness after the 120 mark...
Either way, too doggone fast for me until the C.O. Jones grow some more.
Needless to say, the Devil's Triangle and the Dragon are simply the most fun you can have while wearing your clothes.
Kim and I came through the Dragon at night on our way to the lodge, and almost bit it on Krudd Corner. Both front tires were simply pushing and no more traction was to be had. I went into that corner WAAAAYYY too hot. Lesson learned.

Just remember who you followed in the past and where you learned to run that clean line. Just kidding LOL.

Also, what does your car's tach read at 165?
Well, this turned out to be more fun than I originally imagined. I usually only play in the dry, but my bro was back from missouri state and it was his first ride. I've got her to 120 ish on highway 21 (gorgeous highway) and was mostly scared by how easily the car achieved that. My jeep wrangler was lucky to make 65 downhill with a tail wind... Needless to say, this car is fun and I will continue to play on BIG empty stretches of road where there is some forgiveness for testosterone.
I only play in big open places because last winter I was riding with my buddy when he lost control of a mr2 spyder at 130+ mph. We hit a tree doing somewhere around 115 and both walked away. If its taught me anything its buckle up, and know what you can and can't get away with in your vehicle, because you don't get another lucky break like that...
Keep the stories coming, I love it, and be safe! (or at least reasonable)

It was screaming, as we're gear-limited to 174. So, upper 5's

The Amish buggies slow you down to a crawl. The Amish and Mennonite girls only have an eye for black VW Jettas. At least I look cool in my own mind!
