Default Cigarette lighter replacement

How do you guys do it? Mine doesnt work.

1- Where do I find the replacement?
2- How to I replace it?

I would appreciate any help on this as I dont want to trash the entire console with a mistake.

Thank you

This is assuming you did check the fuse...

Quoting Maxcichon from a previous post:

If the socket must be replaced:[/list]Radio panel (plus 2 screws)
Shifter surround (2 pieces-pry out)
Ashtray/Airbag light/lighter

There are 4 small screws that must be removed to get that 3-banger panel out. The socket is a bugger to remove. It is held in place by 2 small clips deep toward the front of the socket assembly. 2 small flat screwdrivers to push them in and push it out toward the front.
Here's one that should work...

I didnt check the fuse, but I assume it is the lighter itself because my gfriend had this gigantic ipod holder thing plugged and she bumped into it which caused the cigarette lighter hole to be loose and ever since it hasnt been working.

and did check the springy contact inside the receptical to make sure you have contact...(I had this problem caused by my radar detector plug, causing the lighter not to work)..

Here is a set of instructions I got from Rudy when I took my full console out to be painted....post #3.

Another quick check is to take a voltmeter to the lighter.

One prong on the center pin, the other on the inside casing, if you read battery voltage of 12.5v, then you know the fuse/wiring is okay.

Then it's just a seating problem, or that center prong needs adjustment...

I think I have one sitting on my chest at home. I'll try to check when I get there tonight, otherwise I think they're $40 at the dealer, or probably cheaper somewhere online. You can have mine although I don't think it includes the actually lighter.
