Maybe the windshield washer fluid sensor is broken, the float is jambed or the connector is loose.

Take it out and look at the connections and the level switch.

I have the same problem with the washer fluid warning light coming on intermittently, even though the reservoir is full. Did you solve the problem by following onehundred80’s suggestion, or by another approach?

I took out the tank, cleaned out some slime that was in the bottle and on the sensor. I'm hoping the slime was jamming the float a little and causing it to flicker when the bottle was at the level just above the point where the light would come on and stay on. There is a delay built in to stop the light flickering if the float is bobbing up and down due to the cars motion.
After using some fluid the light stayed on permanently. I hope it is solved as it's a pain to remove the tank.
Edit, May 5 2012
Fix worked OK as light has not come on again.

Thanks for the comments. A couple of weeks ago I drained the reservoir completely and then filled it up again and the light went off. But It was back on again last week, even when full. Next time I am out I will run it down again and then try blasting it with a bit of pressure, but I suspect that there may be a problem with the sensor (electrics) rather than the float. Thanks.

I'm hoping my problem is solved but I have my doubts.
Tank capacity is 7 liters (7.4 qt) so draining it would not be fun without the tank on the floor.
When you take out the tank remember how you did it as putting it back can be a real pain if the fender liner is not completely removed, completely removing the liner is a big pain as well.
Removing a full tank would be a real pain in the tail bone.
And when you get the level sensor out and clean it, don't do something stupid like I did and put it back in upside down. That ensures that the indicator light is on until the level drops below the sensor, not what you want.
The little flat part on the sensor housing goes TOWARD the tank so that the foam flotey thing will float UP when fluid is above the sensor level.

How big was the hammer you used to make it fit. LOL
I think they have to put the sensor in upside down in Australia.

Sounds like there is a lot of potential for a non mechanically minded person like me to go wrong! The car will be due for an MOT and service in April, so I may get my service center to have a go then. They look after 4 Crossfires, so they know the car.
