I think this is a question that we've all had and no one could find a definite answer to. I've seen estimates somewhere on here around 80,000 worldwide. I have no idea if that's true or not.

There is no reason for this information to be secret. Perhaps our German owners know someone at Karmann? gary

Gary, that info was asked for a long time ago from Karmann by several different members. No answer was ever given. Both Karmann, Daimler, and Chrysler just point fingers. But, given production numbers by the engineers in charge, the 80000 was the contract amount. So, I would figure the contract was fulfilled.

Ok, so we do not know how many, but I thought one of the CICCI memebers were taking down VIN#'s to keep a history of the Crossfires. What is the last number we have in the club? We should be able to get that number. If we post it, then all the non-memebers could say they had the last number but, won't be reconized till they register with CICCI....Really what is the last VIN # we have for our records?

They may have been paid not to make any more before the contract amount was reached. It happens all the time.

Which is probably what happened actually, since the sales were so poor in the later years. Many of the '06's were re-stickered as 07's (which Chrysler paid a pretty big fee to do), or so I've heard. Then there was the attempt by Chrysler to sell a good number of them on Overstock.com.

Those things, coupled with the fact that most dealers hate our cars, it's pretty easy to guess that Chrysler terminated the contract early. However, I thought the original amount to be built was 100,000 and Chrysler stopped it around 80,000. This is all just hearsay, though.

We\ll if that is the case I don't think there are 4000 cars that were never made to make it to 80000...I think they stopped short? Unless someone else can tell us different.

My 08 was made in Nov of 07, it is serial # 75601 & my 04 was made in May of 03 it is serial # 1145, I think they started at serial #1001 so at least 74,600 were made.
