Well you picked the best color, that's for sure.
Manual or Automatic? What color interior?
I bought my 04 brand new in April of 05, and my 7 year warranty is almost up. But my enthusiasm for my car (and this forum) is still as strong as ever.
Welcome home.

Next up, since you state you are not an automatic transmission fan - look into the paddle shifter kit.
After that, some basic upgrades are ( in no particular order ) :
Single / Dual Cold Air Induction ( CAI )
74MM throttle body
After market head unit that has USB and plays MP3's ( maybe even blue tooth fer yer cell )
Vinyl covers for the headlights/fog lights
HID low beams, maybe ( if u are into HID's )
CHECK THE RCM FOR THE MYSTERY NO-START
get a spare crankshaft and camshaft position sensor ( and tools to install them ).
new battery ( if it's > 4 yrs old )

Not sure a TOTAL noob needs to be digging into the engine electronics box, maybe be OK with a PARTIAL noob.
Perhaps you should update your signature with a bit more specific location than just 'Kentucky'.
Maybe some un-noob member that is not too far away can offer assistance .......
( I'd be happy to help, but I'm 400 miles from Kentucky )
