Default Air Intake Question

Hey Y'all,

I'm considering picking up new cold are intakes/ filters for my 05 Coupe Limited and I'm just curious what kind of gains people are getting by doing this or if it's even worth it.

Appreciate it,
John

Get a Needswings single CAI and you and your car will be very happy!
You could do the NW dual CAI but for the NA car it is not really necessary....but looks balanced under the hood and will give more air than you can use....

Thanks for the advice Mike! What kind of gains would i get from this mod (HP, Torq, mpg)? Also, if money isn't in excess right now, how would a K&N air filter act if you have any experience with those?

I put K&N's in my stock boxes and can't say I really noticed much of a difference. If your not in a big hurry there might be some used CAI systems for sale when the BEGi Turbo project goes full swing.

You could always make your own home made cold air intake like I did. It is friggin' awesome and love the results.

. I Was able to scrounge around aluminum pieces and put it together. It cost me around $150. The main piece I bought from Advanced Auto is a spectre pipe listed below. The filter in my car shown is a K&N filter I only use at the track. I use a smaller one for normal use so it fits under my grille. Of course I painted the pieces black.

Buy Spectre 3" Universal Modular Kit 8208 at Advance Auto Parts_____

Yeah-making your own is the way to go-if you can make simple parts. See below:

Appreciate it,

It's been proven on the track, that NeedsWings single CAI can lower your "stock" automatic NA's 1/4 mile ET by nearly a 1/2 a sec.
Most definitely, one of the best "bang for your buck" mods you can make.
Not sure how much of an improvement it makes on the 6 speeds.

For the 6 speeds, it's more a matter of your eye/ear/touch coordination, as your ability to run through the gears correctly has to influence any times, plus having a brass pair of you know what, always helps...

Eye ~ if your a tach watcher
Ear ~ if it's engine noise
Touch ~ 2nd to 4th will get their attention...

I'm also convinced that a NW dual CAI, is the way to go, it might not perform better than a single, but it sure looks nice and hefty...

Definitely the best looking CAI on the market. I just couldn't see myself spending that much for it when my homemade one performs just as well for the fraction of the cost. My 11.7 @116 1/4 mile run is proof of that.

Just to try to answer one of the main questions...........Rob at Needswings say the CAI will up the HP of a NA Crossfire by about 20 HP.

I want to put a dual on too, but I can't justify it right now given it's about $800 for the dual (I like the balanced look of the dual) ........and the fact I have one kid in college, saving for a second and I'll likely be needing another car when he takes his car to college next year. I'm keeping my XFire nice and clean in the garage over the winter and don't want to make it my daily when he takes my other car to school with him..........

I couldnt find any 'general air intake questions' topic so I ll try my chance in here
I have seen some people who opened a hole on the filter box to make the car little lauder, I ve seen it on youtube also, but XF has a weird design and I dont know how to make it little louder without spending money... this car is way too quiet! :/

My home made single CAI made a huge difference in the felt performance of my Crossfire. The howl of the intake under wide open throttle adds to the experience. Much better than the stock set up and worth doing.

Curious if anyone is running one of these. If so does it make a difference or is it strictly for bling appeal.
