Ways to beef up your XF?
OK to give you a lick of background, I live in south Texas. I have only EVER owned trucks, my current car is a 1978 ford bronco, and now I just got my hands on an 05 Crossfire limited edition convertible and I am in love with this thing. My bronco has a 351M (5.8L V8) so I'm accustomed to a tad bit more power at my feet, which this thing does not disappoint in the least. It may be a 3.2L V6 but it runs like a bat outta hell. The point here is I'm wondering what are some mods or things you can do to it? Keep in mind I have been restoring my 78, I have NEVER owned a car THIS new, nor techy, so I'm kinda a virgin in a brothel here I'm totally lost. A buddy of mine has a new truck that he runs on the tracks and has a chip? In it? A bulldog I think? That is the literal extent of my knowledge here. So please any advice or tips to kinda beef this puppy up a bit is more than welcome
Eurocharged tune ($300).. 74 mm throttle body (uprade from the 68mm) and larger MAF housing ($100 +or -)... intake tubing.. Needwings $350 ish to $600ish depending on twin tube or single.. myself I opted for a $65 twin intake "hot air" intake from ebay.
These will "wake" the car up a little... and make it even more fun to drive..

Easiest and highest non invasive bang for the buck is the Eurocharged Tune. $300 for about 25 hp. It brings these cars to life. Feels quicker, shifts more crisply, response is better (don't need a sprint booster in my opinion if you do this). All around better. And as others have said, the CAI from Needs wings, etc. coupled together will get the HP ratings up into the 250 to 265 range.
I'm happy with just the tune but I may venture down the other mods path later on.

That's just a public service notice that it's good enough I paid for it for two cars now..

I got a cable with my NA tune, I have not got a tune on the SRT.
Pic available for Debbie Downers in Doubt..
SRT's get a bit pricey to tune so I have not bothered.

You don't "Have to"... you won't max out the flow till full throttle per say.. kind of like adding K&N filters.. every little bit along the way helps. And that "price" was just a typical average from my research on parts. In real simple terms.. you've got a 3" hole sucking through a 2 3/4" opening.. really would only come in to play at full throttle with the butterfly wide open for that full 3" to suck through.
Or good to make sure you don't just toss it in the stack of computer cables then wonder where it is later..

The inference I'm getting from this is: it's an option :yes,if I intend to
"push" the car ,consistently , into a "racing mode", or no, if I just want to have that extra punch from time to time...the latter is where my heads at this time... Thanks again for your knowledgeable input... this forum is the best"car" advice I've ever been associated with... Mucho Kudos to all...Carl
Eurocharged currently lists the NA tune at $499.99
They occasionally have a sale, and a bunch of us jumped on board at $300, me included.

Just call them....they will cut you a deal. Of find a shop nearby that is associated with them.
