Got stopped on base this morning
Re: Got stopped on base this morning
This evening around 7, I was driving slowly in a parking lot and this young lady, probably in her late thirties, easy on the eyes, walks over and says something to me. I rolled down my window and she says "nice car" I said thanx then she says "you probably get that alot" . I said "yeah....I do." then she says "my name is Gina" I tell her "I'm Stephen, maybe I'll see you around" she says "you will, see you later" I left with a smile....

Re: Got stopped on base this morning
GraphiteGhost Was enroute to my volunteering job on base this morning and since I was early, I took a little detour to the exchange (little shooping mall on base). As I exited my car after parking, a nice lady came up to me and engaged me in a 20 minute conversation about my crossfire. She said she aleways liked the lines on the car and wished she had one. I told her if she ever got the chance to pick one up, she should. I showed her just about everything possible (that you could do in 20 minutes) and she was really impressed with the fact it was built in germany by MB. Anyway, I glanced at my watch and told her I actually had to go since my shift was soon to start. Pleasantly surprised at the whole affair, and had a grin the rest of the day.

I was also pulled over a couple times with warnings for not using a signal in stand still rush hour traffic trying to merge on to the highway (some Jaguar was nice enough to wave me in). 15 min later a couple miles down the road a DPS jumps in behind me and pulls me over. Said I didn't use a signal and gave me a full walk around inspection. I am in a shirt and tie at 7AM just trying to get to work. JUST BE CAREFUL. Crossfires are not common here and they tend to stick out and grab attention.
YUP... that sounds like San Antonio

Yeah Doc, I thought that after I hit the submit button and reviewed the post. BTW, on Shaw AFB they are SP's or Security Police... Army calls them MP's for Military Police...
Slight correction, they are called Security Force Specialists (SFS) since 99-00. I wish I was still in the AF, best time of my life! IYAAYAS!!! Super huge bonus points for those that can figure out the acronym.
I had the pleasure of informing a 72 year old lady with a graphite coupe and a 20-something cutie with an Aero roadster about the forum on the same day. Crazy part was that one was in Oviedo and the other in Palm Bay. That's a 150 mile round trip that I make more often than I would like for work. But maybe we'll get a couple more forum members from what my co-worker calls my"rabid obsession" with these cars....

I know, didn't know you were on Shaw...lol... I have met both in my time. They train some at our police academy. I actually go to required update classes at the old Grissom AFB here in IN... I see a few XFs out there on the road from time to time...still a classy ride... Some designs seem to go "outdated" but our cars seem to hold a special place in design, like a few of the old muscle car classics...

In Vietnam our EOD guys earned their keep on a daily basis. But they also lived in their own little world. Nobody but nobody messed with them. They were just plain crazy. I have much respect for those guys. That movie about the EOD guys in Afganastan reminded.me much of them. Thanks to all who served.
