Default Replacing Silver "A" Pillar Panels w/ Color?

I'm interested in changing the silver "A" pillar accents on my recently aquired black 2005 with ones that are color matched.

Questions:

1. I am curious as to the difficulty of doing this myself?
2. Where might I find the parts?
3. Roughly, what do these parts cost?

I assume you are discussing the silver windshield surround moulding, if so, they are somewhat difficult to remove from the car. I would suggest using a plastic type of flat tool to pry them off for painting, which should be done professionaly for paint matching. As to the cost, the list price for each piece of moulding is approximately $300 USD, if you can find the part.
Good luck with your next step.

I bought a spare set off the forum for $100/shipped to my house. My local paint shop charged me $125 to color match them to my car. Once the body shop was finished, I let them sit for about a week. Then exchanged them on the car in about 1/2 hour. Easy to do, once you see how they are fastened.

PS Another thing to do would be to trade someone with a base model if they are looking for silver. Base models and Special Edition models have black from the factory.

It sounds like you want them painted black to match your car. Why don't you find someone with a base model (trim is oem black) and trade. Ditto for the fender trip behind the front wheel. IMHO, I would not do it since that silver trim denotes the up level Limited.

I would buy "carbon" or any other colour plastic film and cut on place. Cheaper and removable, since you will probably want to alter it again later. If you ar happy with it, go ahead and paint after a while.

Hi Lord Mandrake,

Mine where wrapped in vinyl when i bought the car, but it came off and u could see the silver underneath.
I took them off, then spend about 10 hours to remove the vinyl.
My painter charged me €100 to paint them black, matching the car.
At first i wanted to buy new one's so it saved me some work, body shop was asking €300 a part, so thats €900 total.
I may have some photo's for you, about where the clips are on the trip, always start with the top one.
