Default 2004 Crossfire thinking of engine swap

I have owned this car since 2006, and now you name the problem mine has it. The rear end whines, i can not fill my gas tank(dont know the cause), the stereo fried its wiring (it was completely stock), which also fried the alarm system so the locks and alarm do not work at all, the engine consumes oil like no other. The car has 120,000 miles and no modifications as of yet. In September i am going to begin piecing together everything i need to put in a shortened solid axle 9" ford rear end with 3.55 gears, aeromotive a1000 stealth 15 or maybe 20 gallon fuel cell and pump package, complete new stereo and alarm going to try for around 1200W RMS, and will figure out if a LS2 or LS based corvette engine will squeeze in the engine bay mated to a 5 or maybe 6 speed manual transmission. I also want to do a mercedes sl500 front end swap i know there is extensive fabrication that will need to take place but if anyone has any input on this project i would love to hear what u have to say

Sorry I can't be of much help with your project, but thought you might find what happened to me today amusing considering your project....Went into Advance Auto for a dome bulb and the guy came outside with me to look at the XFire - he said, dang, what you got in there, a Hemi?!?

Good luck w/your project, it sounds like quite an undertaking, but the XFire is so worth it!

There have been Mercedes V8's and even a Hemi V8 put in these cars.. if you're looking for something different or have extensive experience with the LS engines go for it, but there may be "easier" options..

My only question to you is what do you mean that you can't fill the gas tank ? How do you drive with no fuel ?
Post pictures soon as you start the projects

I went to the gas station one day to fill up, the pump would fill the gas tank filler neck and stop letting about 50 cents worth of gas in the tank at a time this problem started at around 110,000 miles I believe there is a safety valve that popped and will not let me fuel up. I do not drive the car any more, I bought a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT. This is one reason I would like to change the engine. I have seen Merc and Hemi conversions, and I just want to do something different. LS motors are cheap to build and can make crazy horsepower, crazy for a crossfire that is

Try pumping gas w/car running, see if that makes a difference.
Could be your gas float mechanism, a blocked hose, or even the fill neck vent.

Well, I never said I didn't know ANYTHING about cars. I just said I don't have the tools. Plus, I really don't know anything about wheels/tires, lol. Living around 4 brothers who were constantly taking everything apart they could get their hands on had its benefits!

I have tried everything, the only way to fuel up is to shove a rod into the filler neck about 20 inches in and gas will get in the tank, it is a massive pain in the *** though. I have taken the inside body panels off in the hatch and got down to the tank itself and it's all hard lines there are no obstructions of a vent, I blew compressed air thru the vent. Tried filling while running. The easiest solution to me is replace with used tank from junk yard or just replace with brand new fuel cell. Removing the tank will add enough space to put a nice set of subs where the stock ones are at

The filling problem has occurred before and in that case it was the valve that prevented overfilling the tank. It jams somehow, when you shove the rod down the filler tube it pushes it out of the way. The only repair is tank replacement unless you can free it up somehow.
