Default ! Water seeping into gas com when washing car

I noticed that when I wash my car water is seeping into the gas tank area (under the gas door). Door seems to lay flat and can't understand how it is seeping into this area. It's not getting into the gas cap just the compartment. Any ideas? Thanks

There is a drain hole on the bottom right corner below the gas cap that is probably clogged up.

I did see a hole but was worried about sticking anything in it in case it might damage the gas tank. Thanks I will clean it out.

When you clean it out use a long wire or air compressor to get everything out because the drain tube runs down to the bottom of the fender well.

Where does that hose exit? If you remove the tail light access panel and look for that hose, where does it exit?? Mine just lays in the rear inside the fender. Would make sense if it drained outside the car instead of into the rear quater.

Water in the compartment is normal. I open it and dry it out, just like I thoroughly dry around the doors and sills, the rear hatch and it's sill, the trunk and it's sill.

It is normal but when that little drain gets clogged it fills up with a lot more water.

Do not jam a wire in that hose.
This is what it lookes like and how it is ran throught the car and out behind the rear wheel
Mine broke and water got into the car fogging up the windows with no sign of wetness anywhere...

So you couldn't even work like a 14 ga. insulated wire down that? Just kinda gently probe it in? Granted its' a cheap enough date, but the wire would be "simpler"..

People can jam whatever they want in there but I personally dont recommend it. the rubber hose has a weak spot, it bends right near that area so by pushing something through there might just split the hose and let any and all water that enters the hose go directly into the car. Just by giving the hose a good tug from outside behind the wheel may break it. Not a great setup, and with the cars and hoses getting older and less flexable... there is a risk.

Just a little compressed air from the bottom of the tube (behind the wheel) will blow any and all debris up and out safely. Just dont have your face infront of the gas cap area

Yesterday, I had a mechanic use some compresed air to clean the clogged drain tube. The water seems to go down in the gas filler compartment however I can no longer see the tube behind the rear wheel but I don't see any water on the ground. Any suggestions or is this okay? I wasn't sure if I need to have someone check out the wheel area that is shown in Beaner's pics above. Thanks
