It died while driving down the highway
My 05 crossfire died on me the other day as was cruising along, no warning, just quit. Had it towed to the dealer. after a couple hours they said it was the rcm that had shorted out and need replaced. So $500 and a day later, I am back on the road. I came across the post on the bad solder on the rcm, and decided to look at my old part and see how bad it was, and possibly resolder it and keep it as a backup. I pull the cover off and look at the solder, and it looks good even under a magnifying glass. Could it still be just the solder, or coulld the whole part just be bad? Here is a couple pics.
RCM's don't "Short out" they, in effect, go open due to bad solder joints or pitted relay contacts or stuck relay armatures.
Solder looks iffy to me on two pins, hard to tell with the focus like that.

They are broken. I can see the break rings on your second photo you posted up. Look at the faint ring that surrounds each of the points where the component pokes through the board to be soldered on.
If you have no need for it, send it to tighed1 as a spare in the program he has
for fixing members RCM's.
( he also adds the "Me so Horny" mod on the ones he sends out )
PM him or me for the address.
( I sent him the spare I had received from rayth last month )

Does it make you feel any better that I was using my iPhone at the time?
Here on the computer they are quite a bit more noticeable, at least to me.

Fix mine yrs ago still running great , But do see the rings in the pics , and would say this could been the easy fix that could have saved you 500.00
