Burning smell under acceleration?
I've got the same issue, and have done some searching on the forum a few weeks ago. Based on the number of cars that are doing this, i don't think the cats are failing, i just think that there is a high sulfur content in certain brands of high octane fuel. I think this is leading to the smell when the engine is outputting a large volume of exhaust. However, i can't figure out why this would happen at high speeds AND high rpms, but not at high rpms with low speeds...

im stuck too, the only good thing i can figure is that if it was the clutch it would be opposite of the above statement
i read on some other forums that if you make multiple runs it goes away if its the cats, but i havent had the chance to try any more than one run at a time

If your running high speed at high RPM you were probably running high RPM at low speed too. So maybe its a heat thing? Once your running hard it starts heating up the cats, and once they get hot at a higher speed? Idk just spit ballin here.
Here's the best explanation I've seen:
SwRI Lighter Side
I had this issue with my 2004 Crossfire when it was fairly new, but the sulfur content standards were less restrictive back then. BP and Citgo gasolines, for example, resulted in the smell whereas brands such as Shell and Chevron did not. So, once I stopped using certain fuels I never noticed the odor again. I haven't tried BP recently in my Crossfire, but maybe I will just to see if I get any of the H2S odor.
Anyway, if it's only during heavy acceleration, I would not be too alarmed. First thing to do would be to try a different fuel.
