Default Indoor Winter Car Cover

Hey guys, I have searched this forum and a few others I am a part of, and done some research on trying to find an affordable indoor winter car cover, basically a glorified dust cover.

Seeing as how the car will be in a garage, I can not justify some super expensive custom fit cover, nor do I believe I need one. I just want something that can sit on a perfectly clean car and keep dust off it without scratching it. A friend recommended at California King fitted bed sheet LOL

Please let me know what you recommend. Thanks guys!! I am excited to have her rest in the garage for the first time...

Does anyone have any experience with a company called cover zone? This is the model I am looking at, because it seems to be what I need, a single layer, not supposed to scratch the finish, and as a bonus, it is custom fit to the car with mirror pockets. Thoughts?

This one is not truelly fitted. Be careful when you see "custom". That many times means they have several models to fit a range of cars.

If you want it to fit like a glove, try California Car Covers.

I am taking a look right now, although you comment about 'custom' may not be the best, as this is the first thing I see when I go to the California Car cover page LOL

Edit: $175-$700+ for an indoor cover is crazy IMHO, if I had a bentley, maybe, but I am simply trying to keep dust off it LOL. If I had FP money, I would have 2 of them

For a car that will be inside a garage, a fitted sheet sounds like it would keep dust off and not harm the finish. Ill ask the boss if we need new sheets.

I have two Crossfires and the second one came with a Coverking satin stretch custom fitted cover. They're on the more expensive end (around $250 -$300) but it is really, really nice and it fits like a glove. I had one of the less expensive ones on the roadster but was so impressed with the Coverking satin stretch one I saved all my change and eventually bought another one. I haven't regretted it.

Hahaha John. Very funny. If all you want is to protect it from dust, and don't care what it looks like, use an old bed sheet, or go to Walmart and find a generic cover for $30.

I know you are particular about your car, so I pointed you to the right place... You can buy one as low as $153

This is what a cover should look like;

See, I was right, you do have two of them

I am very particular, but I have to say, I am also frugal (read: sensible). Over $1,000 on a carbon fibre hood, no problem, but $150+ to keep dust off the car? That is crazy I can always simply let the small amount of dust accumulate on the nicely waxed finish and use my car duster every once in a while, but I want her to feel spoiled, just not that spoiled or she will want a V8 sooner than I can make happen LOL

Thanks for all the replies!

Not cheap, but frugal. I have used the inexpensive Walmart covers for years...in the garage. No wind to blow them around and scratch the finish. They keep the dust and occasional debris from the interior (I leave the top down on the roadster and windows down on both). After I cover them for the winter, I put a couple thick padded moving blankets over them especially on the side with foot traffic. That prevents the possible scratch from a bag of groceries or a hockey stick.

The bed sheet thing was a joke, look at the size of a bed and the size of your car, even if it was a California King sheet, which would not be cheap either, it would still be several feet too short

Finally loaded a pic of these indoor covers I have for the coupe and roadster. They are made of a satin stretch type material with the inside a soft micro fabric type of material. I read somewhere this is the type of indoor cover material offered by Ferrari for their cars. Most companies that make custom fitted covers often times will send you a sample of materials/colors you can choose from if you request them. The top companies have CAD programs for the shape of just about any type of car you can imagine. After an order has been place they load the program into their computer and it cuts the material to the correct size panels and then it is sewn together. From my experience the entire process from ordering to receiving takes two to three weeks.

THANKS for your posts in this thread. This post and the later post with your photo convinced me to spend the extra bucks and go with the Coverking satin stretch car cover . . .
