Default Straight up lowering advice needed!!!

Hi,

I have been reading the many posts on lowering my Crossfire, but there seems to be varying accounts on what it exactly entails. Can someone please let me know the answer to this question.

If I lower my 2004 Crossfire Coupe with Eibach lowering springs, can I still correct the camber and alignment with the stock gear, or will I NEED to fork out a small fortune for the Kmac kit (and/or any other surprise costs)??

Please help! I have the springs, but don't want to install them to later find out I can't correct the camber with the stock set up.

Best,

Dave

Have alignment issues, you will (yoda voice)... LOL.... There is a website that sells different length tie rod ends that can be made for adjusting camber. It is an inexpensive solution, as soon as my computer lets me into my files I will post more detail on it. Beaner did it and it worked, I am going to do it soon. For front, I think you will be ok with the camber bolts from Needswings. This is as far as my help can go on this matter, I dont plan on lowering mine for quite a while.

Thank you sir!!! That's a bit of a relief. I was worried I may have jumped the gun and bitten off more than I could chew... Still can't figure out why a K-Mac kit is so expensive.... It must be made from the tears of small children!!

Yeah, I dont understand it either. Here is a picture I stole for everything you need for the back camber. The tube length is 9".

As I have not done this myself, I can't vouch for the parts 100%, perhaps others can :

Rear camber :
Specialty Products Company
quan (1) part 75990 tools set : $91.03
Specialty Products Company
quan (2) part 28840 bushings : $138.55 ea

front camber :
Front Adjustable Camber Bolt Kit
quan (1) part 'xfftcamberbolts' : $69.95 ( does both sides )

total ( less S&H ) : $438.08

Everyone has a different experience and comfort level with what they end up with.

I picked up,
eibachs
Konis
Spring pads
Front camber bolts
Rear camber arms

And did the install myself.

I ended up with -1.6 and -2 camber up front and was in spec in the rear.

I had camber / sway bar contact and added
thicker rear spring pads
Adj sway links

I ate through a set of new front hankooks in a year because of camber

Added front kmac kit
bigger front spring pads
new front tires

Still have some sway/camber arm contact

Added poly sway bushings

Have squeaky *** noises back there on every little road pimple, still working on that.

Some would live with eating front tires, some can get in spec with the front bolts. Some have no contact in the rear others grind the body seam. At the end of the day you could be lucky and everything goes smooth or you could be still trying to get everything perfect 2 years and 2+ grand later. All depends on the type of person you are, what you can live with and how many times you feel like removing and adjusting things to get them right.

Not trying to discourage or anything I couldn't live with highjacker stock look and wouldn't take back anything I have done, just letting you know my experience.

I put Eibach springs on my SRT6 with about 14k miles on it in '07/08. It now has about 34K miles on it. Wore out the front tires within about 5K miles. I put the front camber bolts and had it realigned and got new PS2s. Tire wear has been great since then. Never messed with rear kmac or what ever arms. I am not really sure what they do.

My XF has lowered springs fitted to it when I bought her a year ago.

I've put 20,000 UK miles on it and the tyre wear is totally even all round... just put a new set of Dunlops on her now.

I'm re registering the vehicle in Poland soon and have acquired a set of standard springs, as the Polish roads are..... simply dreadful and I don't want to wear a spinal board for the rest of my life....

The ride is TOTALLY PRECISE and sh has zero body roll and drives like on rails with the lovered springs.
She is lowered to the point where the tops of the tyres are approx flush with the tops of the arches, and there is suspension movement, OK for UK and USA roads for sure.

*****
*****If any one is interested in the set of these springs and the shocks that are on her as a complete set of parts..... make me an offer + freight... The vehicle has recently passed an MOT -
(annual UK road inspection from the Ministry of Transport - for you USA guys out there)

I live in the South of England - Dorset, and can freight these in a few weeks when I've changed them.

Regards

Grant B

Depends on which Eibach kit you have. I have the one that lowers 1 1/2". If you go beyond that you will spend money on tires or suspension, it's up to you. I have MikeR's adjustable rear camber arms and the front eccentric washer kit and am in spec aligned.

I think mine has the RIGHT lowered springs.... As the handling is simply awesome... And perfectly balanced and predictable.... Drives like she's on rails.
