so today i was on interstate 45 when me and a srt 4 end up next to eachother. i can tell the guys are cheking me out so i turn off traction control and start using my auto stick. as i slow down the guy proceeds to call me a part of the female anatomy that starts with a P and says my car is a pice os sh*t. of course he wouldnt race me. not sure what he had under the hood all i have is my sl500 air box and reset my throttle about a week ago. im just venting guys i really dont care for most four cylinders...

Ive had guys do that in just about every car ive ever driven. My first fast car was a Neon SRT4 and it was a really fun car, especially modded but yes, its still a neon inside and out. You have no idea how many times ive had guys try to race me in their BMW's, MB's, Nissans, Evos, STI's etc. Hate the person, not the car

One of my favorite stories is when I was driving my SRT4 home from my friends and this M3 pulls up next to me, pulls down the window and gives me a thumbs down and then takes off. A few miles down the road I see him pulled over and the cop has his hand on his gun and the guy has his hands up with the scariest look on his face.

One of the best moments ever.

 

true i cant say all srt4 drivers must be that annoying as long as they have room for theyre kids n all i guess i can see why they bought it. lol

 

at the end of the day its a neon with a turbo. i guess i was caught off guard by them dowing my car eventhough were all in the same dodge chrysler group but maybe they knew about the 80% mercedes parts under the chrysler skin

 

"Car guys" will appreciate a good car for what it is.. punks.. well.. My NA will smoke a Miata unless it's been Turbo modded.. now ask me if I'm beyond adimiring one still. Or any other car with some style or something special about them. Now don't expect me to ooo and ahhh over your grandmothers 74 buick.. LOL

If it makes you feel better, last week I was tooling down I-135 through Wichita (60 MPH speed limit). I am in the far left lane and I'm doing about 63 MPH as I start to roll up on a Honda (civic I think) with two people in it in the center lane. As I get close to them, I see the driver check the rear view mirror, then the side mirror then back to the rear view. I see the fart pipe and the ball caps pulled down low on their heads and think "this oughta be fun". I just about get past them (cruise is set) and they nail it (fart pipe is giving it all). I couldn't let them play alone, so WOT I go for about 4 seconds. I let off and slowed down so they could catch up and try to wave at them - no dice. Off they go again - and I, of course, play again. A few seconds later, I slow down to let them catch up and they hit the first available exit - I guess they were done playing.

Of course I sped during this - got to about 85 on one burst, but there was no traffic ahead of us and we were on a straight part of the road (no curves). Flame me if you must, but I felt I needed to defend our (Xfire) honor against these hooligans.

^^^ You just made me laugh.. my only (if you could call it that) race was pretty much identical to yours! Two home boys in the honda civic - multicolor w-fart can.. gave it a couple runs at me and called it a day..

 

You never know what is on the other persons mind, they could just be getting their kicks making you go for it and laugh when you take the bait. You are the sucker when they just drive on at a normal speed and you are shredding tires.

 

its exactly that, a neon with a turbo, with cheap *** bucket seats and roll down back windows lol. But part of that was the fun, I loved how RAW the SRT4 was. It was cheap all around but ran like a champ and handled my big turbo and 75 shot of nitrous without issues. It was CHEAP and easy to mod and go fast, even though traction was a *****. These 2 door coupe sports cars like the Crossfire are in a different class than those cars though and this is about QUALITY build and sleek looks with rear wheel drive (the only way to drive IMO). My SRT4 is in the past and its going to stay there.

It sounds like you just got a hold of some punks. I have some friends with SRT4's and SRT8's and we all have respect for each other's rides. I have smoked my fair share of both and have a competitive grudge against one of my buddies 4. I had him beat a couple of times at the track but the last time we went he brought drag radials and got me by a .15 in the 1/4. I have always liked the Neon 4's for what they are, but like it was said above " hate the driver, not the car"

 

Have few Kids out at work that have them , one fix up pretty dam nice, , they have seen my Crossfire and we joke with each other about are cars , never had hard time with any of them, they seem to be more car guys then anything , there will always be A$$ out there on the road , fart cans and all , LOL ,

 

true i laughed a little as this happened because im pretty sure the driver had to roll his widow down manually as he called my car a piece of crap lmao. if we were going slower i would have poped wing on them but we were already doing 70 . im sure it comes with the territory the nicer the car the more haters out there

As an SRT owner I can tell you that most of the SRT4s on the road today are on their 4th, 5th, 6th + owner and are either kids or act as such. It's sad to see such potential wasted on kids that wrap them around utility poles or race EVERYTHING on the street. Please don't let one douchebag ruin it for the rest of us. I love both of these cars because of what they excel at, which are two completely different worlds. Any person that makes them an apples - apples argument should be summarily ignored.
