Camshaft sensor, cats, oh my...
Last week, got check engine light and code P0341.
Ordered camshaft position sensor, replaced today.
The only symptoms I was seeing was -- after warm, the car would on occasion, crank and crank but never fire up. The next key turn, it'd fire up with no problem.
The light went off/on for the week, but I replaced the part today and it was gone. Drove for about an hour, no issues..
then.. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.. again.
This time, codes: P0432 and P0422. Both referring to cat performance, bank 1 and 2.
Does anyone have any idea why this has happened? Odd timing.

But it could be the air pump playing up, stuck or burnt relay in the RCM.
Must be a single source problem and not the cats.
I have never pulled a code for the cats before installing the replacement Camshaft sensor. I'm going to re-install the old sensor today, clear the codes, and see what comes back up. If the only code I pull after that is the original 0341, I can blame the other codes on a faulty replacement unit (cheap ebay part...). Update to follow!
Installed the original sensor, pulled negative terminal. Drove until check engine light came back on, pulled code -- only code present was 0341 again for camshaft. I guess my replacement part was defective? Ugh. Can anyone recommend a place to buy the camshaft sensor?

However, PelicanParts.com has a few options and Bosch is the OEM supplier.

Go Bosch or walk home.
Some of these cheaper sensors are crap and have failed to work out of the box.
Camshaft Position Sensor.
Bosch #0 232 103 037 (same as the OEM part)
2000 Mercedes ML320 Cam Position Sensor 0 232 103 037

Here we are a year later and my cel triggered today with both of these codes again. What are the chances the replacement OEM failed again? No symptoms yet other than the light.
