Best solution for P0452 - gas cap OBDII code?
My wife's Crossfire 'check engine' light is coming on. The code is P0452, which I assume is the gas cap loose. I've triple checked the cap and it is secure and the seal looks to be OK.
I've reset it 3 times now and it still comes on after a short time.
I have noticed that that the 'handle' of the cap jiggles slightly, but the cap appears to seal. Is a slight jiggle of the handle common?
My E320 threw a simliar code years ago. Just secured cap properly and code went away. Not working with Crossfire. Suggestions?

I don't recall my gas caps jiggling. I had a "gas cap" code with my Explorer. I had the cap tested where I have my emissions test done and it was OK. I found some pin holes in the filler neck and sealed them with silcone. That was a couple of years ago and no codes since. Good luck!
I just went out and checked my cap and YES, the handle "wiggles" slightly when the cap is tight. It seems that you are manually resetting the CEL but I wonder if the sensor that is throwing the code is bad or if it hasn't had time to properly reset itself (a certain amount of starts or engine run times, etc). How long does it take before the CEL comes on again? Have you tried letting it go for a week or so of normal driving before jumping in and resetting it? Also, check to make sure your cap strap isn't getting pinched under the cap - that may cause a problem as well.
