Default New user and just wanted to introduce myself!

Hey everyone!

My name is Richie and I've recently obtained a Chrysler Crossfire Coupe! Black in color with the 6MT. Just thought I'd introduce myself and show a couple pictures of my car!

Today I will be ordering the Single CAI and Elibach Springs from NeedsWings and doing a rear cat delete soon! Hopefully in a month or so I will be following up with a tune from EuroCharged! Any advice about my current projects or just positve, or negative, criticism is appreciated!

Also, who all is from around the Joplin, MO region? I've seen a couple other Crossfires around here, but no idea who drives them!

Anyways, nice to meet everyone and here is a couple pictures of the car!

Hi Richie, and welcome to the forum.
Looks like you picked up a beautiful base car. (Those are the lightest Crossfires built, so they should be the fastest NA versions).
With the mods that you have planned, your car should be running low 14's at the drags.
Try to make it to as many GTG's as you can, it's a guaranteed good time.

Sometimes the guys have something going on in Chicago area. The Woodward Ave. Dream Cruise in Detroit is a big GTG and one of the best.
The Tail of the Dragon, still ranks as the best with the largest attendance.

I'll try to make it up to one of those meets if I can!

Beautiful cars they are. I've had mine almost four months and love everything about it!

I actually was talking to Rob last night and he seems like a real genuine guy!

Welcome to the forum! You might want to add the 74mm throttle body setup to your list if you are just looking to tweak a few extra HP in it. Drove mine for a year before the mod.. and yeah.. you can tell with just it alone (and larger MAF housing) there's a little more kick in the pants.

Joplin just reminds me how I was meeting up to pick up my son at the Goodwill parking lot 30 minutes before that tornado hit...

Yeah I hear ya. Anything regarding Joplin, MO usually has something to do with the Joplin Tornado. Missed my house by three blocks! But unfortunately I was at CiCi's pizza on Rangeline. But i'm okay!

I was actually looking at that 74 MM throttle body upgrade. For the new MAF housing and the TB what would I be looking at exactly? How hard is it to install if I'm going to attempt (ATTEMPT) to install the NeedsWings intake myself?

Welcome to the forum.

1. the 74mm upgrade is worth doing, and an easy DIY.
2. If you are going NeedsWings CAI, forget about any MAF housings, there is a bung in the NW CAI where you put the MAF/IAT sensor.
I'm older than dirt and have 4 thumbs and I did it !!!!!!

see the 90 degree elbow ? it is where the MAF goes.

The hardest part about doing the CAI is removing those plastic thru-the grille pieces.

So if I understand correctly, I wont' need the MAF housing? Just the throttle body itself?

Sorry if I'm not understanding correctly, I just got finished shoveling out the driveway, the crossfire doesn't do too well in the snow, and quite frankly, I don't like to drive it in the snow, it's too pretty.

And black is the only color car I drive

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I can definitely tell I'm going to enjoy being part of this forum!

Correct.. your Needswing intake will replace that section also..

Us OEM cover guys need the Maf housing "update".. LOL

Oh.. and if you haven't noticed.. Eurocharged is giving us a group by special on the tune.. there is a list on the SRT6 side.

Just waiting for them to drop the green flag on us at this point..

Don't know how that budgets in but if you had to choose its save 50 bucks and tune now .. or CAI and maybe tune sale price later..

Another thing : good luck with removing the 2 screws that bolt the MAF sensor to the housing, they are unlike any other screw on the car. I think they are 5 point torx, not 6 point. I used tiny visegrips on them, not exactly fancy, but it worked.
I replaced them with standard stainless hex head screws. ( thanks to maxcichon ).

You will also need to get a new O ring for the 74mm TB.

There's a sticky somewhere on the forum that has pictures and step by step on the TB upgrade.

First off, congrats on your purchase and welcome to the forum. There is a Gateway Crossfire Group that does host Crossfire events somewhat close to your area. If you are on Facebook, check out: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1172...ref=ts&fref=ts

Awe now.. piece of cake.. think it was 180 who mentioned a standard screw driver (it's a torx security bit.. pin in the middle) small enough to fit snugly beside the pin and into the screw head will.. (and does) work... My cheap china 3" MAF had them too.. the pin broke out very easily.. LOL

So I opted to put the pinless screws back in to hold the sensor..
