I don't think this has been done at least I haven't seen it. My C/F is black. I was trying to figure out why the silver fender fins looked so unfinished. Then I realized that the black smaller fins under the silver fins did not stand out.
So I coated the outer edges, not the entire black fin, in a fine stripe of silver. This set the whole assembly off and made it stand out as it should. Now I wasn't brave enough to use silver paint for fear of a smear so I used a product called silver "RUB and BUFF. I have used it for years and it works great. It goes on with a small brush or a cotton swab. if you make a mistake it cleans off with WD40 . After it is dry buff lightly and it stays on just as you have painted it. Mine came out perfect because I was able to control the paint from smearing. Masking and painting is another option or if you are good with a sword stripe brush but what a pain in the ***. Not for me. If you want to buy this "RUB and Buff" go to "Micheals craft store, Joanne's craft store and sometimes Walmart has it. Small tube and be sure to use sparingly. I have found it useful for other buff silver items and it works great . Maybe much ado about nothing but I saw a great difference in making the fins stand out. JMO

Re: This may appeal to you or not.
Yes, it's a design flaw. Body color matching causes the symptom you described. I had the brushed aluminum texture strakes on a base black coupe and hated it -- actually hate all brushed aluminum on automobiles and have never had a set of stock wheels on a Crossfire.
When I bought the graphite roadster the strakes were missing so I bought a black set -- good color contrast and no loss of detail.
It is very easy to go overboard. Anybody considering this performance mod should do a Photoshop mockup.

I guess it's whatever looks best to the individual who lives with it. In my opinion the silver accent stripe on the small fins against the larger silver strakes sets the whole thing off and makes it look more complete. If you don't like the brushed aluminum look then it is understandable why it doesen't work for you. To each his own. JMO
