Default gas gauge... missing illumination?

take a look at this -- the red bar on my gas gauge doesnt light up like the red bar on my water temp gauge, and i was wondering if i was the only one. and if im not the only one, when does this red bar light? on reserve fuel?

Mine is exactly the same. I don't ever remember seeing the red fuel bar light up.

If there is a warning light in it, it probably doesn't light up unless you go below 1/4 of a tank. In my T and C, a the light lights and a bell sounds - and it does it at some intervals until you put gas in it. The Xfire might be different.

There's a fuel pump looking icon that illuminates in the left side notification area when fuel is low.

The fuel pump looking icon is the same as in my T&C. It lights when the tank gets below 1/4.

thanks -- the camera is actually pretty old. its a 2.1MP Olympus C-2040Z. Its already been to Olympus for service once -- the focus lens went out and the left side of all my pictures was blurry for a while. but still going strong since that service.

FWIW, you can check out this site -- www.dcresource.com -- i used it when buying the Olympus, and i used it again when i was deciding to either fix my camera or buy a new one. lots of good info on there.

Thanks guys. I've currently got an old Sony Cybershot DSC-F55E with 2.1 mega pixels. The focus keeps going on it and it is so big it doesn't fit in your pocket very easy. I'm looking for something good quality, not too expensive, small enough to carry around easy, one with a good enough flash for at night (some of the small ones have a poor flash) and one that can take pics reasonably quickly after each other, i.e. not a long write time to the memory stick like my current Sony. Any ideas?

Also, no, my fuel guage red bit doesn't light up either.

Saldous,

I use a Fuji S7000 for top quality work, but I have a Casio Exilim which is really tiny (ideal for stag nights etc.) Its only 2 or 3 Megapixels depending on the model you get.

I would recommend both.

Aardvark,

I won't post the pictures I got in the Venus Lap Dancing Club then!!!! It would be socially irresponsible.

Ah. I didn't say it would be irresponsible to post them. I merely stated that your life expectancy would be a touch on the short side. Especially considering the mate who spent 2 days explaining to his better half exactly why he had a satin thong in his jacket pocket!

my speedometer illumination is acting up, the 260km and 160 dont light up in green at night its like the bulb got burned or something. Will have the dealer look into this i've never had this happen on a car before its kind of annoying that on a brand new car they have to take out the gage cluster to replace burned out bulbs.

Just got my car back. The dealer stated that the missing illumination on the 260 Km is part of the design meaning a FLAW.

BTW, the fuel gage red area is not supposed to light up when empty thats why you have a fuel warning yellow light on the left of your display that will light up when the needle reaches the red zone.

Bullfrog,

On mine, a small portion of the lower left hand part of the "2" of the 260km/hr is not illuminated. I noticed it a few months back and assumed it is probably just a small design or installation imperfection.

Hey, is it official that the red portion of the fuel gauge doesn't illuminate? I could've sworn I would have noticed that when I purchased my car (about 1500 miles ago), since I almost only drive it at night. Plus I was unable to find any information about this problem on any SLK sites, and to the best of my knowledge, the gauges are the same.
