Does anybody know the actual production #'s of both transmissions?

The only diffinitive/true number related to the transmission type is associated with the SRT6 models, 2944 automatics for 2005. There are 67 2006 models with the same set up, found to date.

This number will never be known, until either Karmann or Chrysler give up the statistics on the builds for all Crossfire, otherwise is a guessing game.

I do not mean to impune but weren't all the SE models Auto. I know of several that were auto and have never seen one that is Manual. Proving nothing of use here. Sorry.

That said, it would be nice to be able to access this tidbit of info about our cars.

Someone ought to know or have access to reliable stats from somewhere.

Perhaps someone intimately familiar with Eric Stoddard could get this sourced.

I remember when I ws looking for an '82 T top 4 spd TA for my son we read that only 5% of them were manual tranny's.

 

Quite a few years ago, there was a discussion about records that Karmann should have kept, or may or may not exist.
It seemed that the biggest stumbling block back then was everything was in German, and I don't remember it ever getting any further that.
I'm sure the predominance of Crossfires came with automatics, and it's for that reason I'd like to find out just how rare the 6 speeds really are.
I'm guessing the 6 speed roadsters are the most rare.
I'm sure there are a multitude of questions that many Crossfire owners have, I just hope Karmann's new owners didn't "trash" all their old records.

 

That is what I thought, too. As it turns out, many of the SE's had automatics in them!

Keep an eye on autotrader.com and eBay and you'll see for yourself. (Not that this helps us figure out the numbers any, the SE's were very limited in number.)

You are correct about the SE models, the majority were automatics, but please look at my original post for an example of a 6 speed SE. The SE had the same options of the Base, same interior, no fog lights, black window surround. It was an SE, because of the Red exterior and the SRT6 wheels (with dark gray painted interior portions of the spokes). Even the engine cover was the same as the Base model.
So the SE 6 speed must be a rare model....

YAY! I'm rare!

 

When I bought the 07 6 spd that I traded in recently, (Dec. Of 07)......there were 12 new XFs on the dealer's lot......only one was a 6 spd.

 

I bought my"NEW" SE in 2006 for $25K. It has a manual 6 speed. I prefer an automatic. I took what was there. NO regrets. Gary..

 

I understand what the SE is. And now see they come in both auto and stick.

Stick shift roadstesr are very rare. When I bought my NA it took me six months to find one with salmon seats and a 6 speed with SSB paint.

My criteria was, in order of importance,,,,,6 spd, roadster, salmon seats, SSB or Aero blue.

The SE's are base models but they seem to bring more on the used market than Limiteds. No one seems to realize thay are a base model with pin srtiped SRT wheels. Frankly,the red paint and black trim sets them apart. I like them but they don't come with heated seats,,or salmon..

And the 6 speed versions,apparently, are extreemly rare.

Were the Salmon seats farm razed or the wild ones from Alaska? The wild ones are harder to find and catch!

I'm not sure that MT6 roadsters are all that rare, but I sure like mine (except for that dang 1-2 shift). I did flush and replace the tranny fluid and it seems a little smoother, or maybe that is my imagination justifying the $100.
