Default Full Throttle Stall

Hi everyone any help that can be provided would great.

Recently had to replace the CPS and that resolved the car stalling while driving, no stalls for several days after install, which beforehand, was a daily occurrence. However, tonight i was out driving and getting on the car a little.

I was at a full stop, laid into the throttle (full), the car got to about 4000 RPM and i lost all power to the rear wheels and the car stalled.

I braked put the car into neutral and restarted the engine no problems. Check Engine light is now on.

Tried this a couple times from a dead stop and same problem persisted.

Tried from a rolling start roughly 10 mph, full throttle, no stall but it did feel like the transmission missed the shift a little, felt like a hard shift.

Used the "manual" shift with the full throttle, stalled.

Used the "manual" shift with maybe 80% throttle and shifting a little early, no problems.
Used the automatic shift with maybe 80% throttle, still felt a little bit like a hard shift but didn't stall out.

Anyone have experience with anything like this?

Wheels spinning I'm guessing.. car shuts down for self protection @4000 RPM without a correct front wheel speed input.(technical terms avoided)..LOL.
Kinda why BEGi is scratching there heads for a dyno pull...

Note for 180: Information may not be 100% accurate.. but you get the jest of things right?

Sorry about just getting back on here. The CEL went off for a while and this morning came back on. The took a little longer to start then it normally does. I did have the code pulled and it is still the CPS code i was getting before.

The no longer dies at stops or when driving, not it is just when i push the throttle to 100%. I did a test today on the interstate (it wasn't busy). I was doing about 50 mph, once again full throttle. However this time, the car does not turn off like before. Instead, the car drops out of gear almost like it is in neutral, you can rev the engine to see the RPM's increase however there is no power to the wheels. I do put the car into neutral and then back into drive and it still does nothing.

I left it in drive once i got to about 10 mph the transition re-engaged and i was able to put power to the wheels again. This has to be some kind of safety feature of the car. Thoughts anyone?

As far as i am know the rear wheels are not spinning at all, same with the front.

I was having a problem with a long crank start from time to time, once a week, and finally got the CPS code. I purchased a new Borg Warner CPS, installed it and went for a drive during which every time I went WOT the car would quit at 4000 RPM. So I got home, took out the B/W and reinstalled the original CPS and haven't had a problem since. I put a little dialectic grease on it and made absolutely sure it was fully and securely plugged in. I won't say all the B/W's are crap, but stick to OEM for the CPS. I have spare new in the box Bosch CPS, just in case. Summing up, make sure it's securely plugged in and if it's not a Bosch, get OEM. (Bosch)

Does your car have a sprint booster installed?
A faulty early style one can cause this condition.

If your getting a CPS code look no further. Clean it and use some dielectric grease in the plug, make 100% sure it's all the way plugged in and see what happens. I was getting the code and the CPS was still good, it just wasn't making good contact. Don't ask me why. This is my honest to god experience with it and my car had less than 10,000 miles at the time.

"None CPS part" ? Click click.. is this the rendition of engine spinning from starter but not firing off?

Bosch CPS $45 on Ebay.. approximately.. click click and no spinning is not the CPS..

Okay that clarifies.. but if your buying at $190 I've got a Bosch behind my seat and can save you 30 bucks.. LOL. Just do an Ebay deal and make sure it is Bosch and save a lot of money off your quoted price here..

Yea i knew 190 was a little high, called around and found a Mercedes CPS, 0031532828 for about 76 bucks. After doing some research verified that part should work just fine. Fingers crossed and hopefully i will be able to slide around the turns again soon.
