Default Sparkplug

New plugs installed and I pulled them out to check how they were burning after15K miles. The CF coupe still has a misfire/sputtering problem but not shooting any codes. Installing new plug wires at the moment and will test run later today.

Mostly looks good, but I am not thrilled about seeing deposits on just one side of the insulator. What did the other plug in that cylinder look like? Do any others looks like this? You want to look very closely when inspecting spark plugs.

I was concerned about that as well. In the same cylinder the other one was the same. There were quite a few that looked like that as well. I just installed the all new Magnacore plugs and took it out for a test ride. The car ran perfectly smooth on the high and low RPM range with out one misfire or sputter. Night and day difference.

I think for now the problems are sorted out.

Great! What brand/type were the old plugs if you don't mind?

The old plugs were bosch platinum f8dpp33 and I replaced them with NGK IRIDIUM BKR5EIX. I meant to say I installed new spar plug wires today. Sorry for the confusion.

So the WIRES fixed the problem? Got it. (I think) Good choice on the plugs. I know they are as common as dirt, but I have had bad luck with Bosch plugs. I usually buy NGK or Denso.

Yes, the wires fixed the problem. I have to add that this all started when the CPS went out first. Naturally I replaced the CPS first but the car was missing and sputtering really bad then I swapped old Bosch plugs to the NGK plugs. Seemed to help a lot but the Magnacore wires is what really cleaned up the reaming problems.

Hate those reaming problems, had too many of them from the boss.
Seriously, though, in another thread I addressed the problems with getting the Magnecor's to seat completely on the plugs,
since they are such squiggly suckers as opposed to the OEM metal cased ones.
I never got mine TRULY seated until I had the valve covers off and could really get to them.
( and YES, I did use diaelectric grease the first time )

How could you tell they didn't seat all the way? Are you supposed to hear them snap in place?

When I had the valve covers off, I decided to double check them.
I really couldn't 'hear' anything, but I sure could 'feel' when they snapped on properly.
( I must note : I was not having any issues at all, like stumbles or miss-fires. )

Ahhh yeah the wires were a pain in the A$$ but I figured out a method to get the CLICK I wanted to hear when installing them.

It's no secret but the trick was I had to actually hear and feel the wire click in so I used an actual plug and a wire with dielectric grease before installing them and simulated the plug and wire mating... my brain had an actual idea what to expect which help ease any doubts with the connection.

Remove coils and installed plugs:
-First I installed grease inside the wire housing.
-Second I slipped the wire on the plug and slide it down and held it for about 5 second to squeeze out air. When the plug wire stops sliding back out by its self step back for a moment and take a deep breath and a drink of something The tricky part is next. Okay with one hand you have to align and keep the wire boot straight from bending as you apply pressure in word. The other hand has to pinch the top and bottom end of the boot and push keeping it straight. It took many tries to figure it out but when I heard the "CLICK" I figured out the trick. Most wires went on very easy and quick. Only three wires gave me problems.
