Need help with 6 speed problems
Ok, I need to know if I am being too sensitive to my transmission. I have one of the earlier cars that had the transmission in the range of ones that could pop out of gear. I decided to tell the dealership that it was popping out of gear even though it wasn't. I wanted the new syncros installed. The issues that I have been having before and after the syncros are this. When stopping at a light, if I take the car out of gear and release the clutch, when I then step on the clutch and then try to put it into first it will rarely go into gear. I usually have to quick pop it into third and then into first (to line up the syncros I guess). and of course the shift from first to second is notchy at best. It borders on grinding, but not quite. So, my question is do I push them to replace the tranny or is this just how it is. Thanks for any insight.
knowit, mine is a week old and I don't have any problems getting mine into first gear. I typically put it in neutral and release the clutch at traffic lights also. I do think the transmission is a little notchy in the lower gears but all the reviews seem to say that, so I think that is a characteristic of this transmission rather than a problem. However, you shouldn't have a problem getting it into gear and I haven't seen any posts where that has been a problem. I think I'd go to the dealer with it.
