Default I reset the TCM/TCU - Still doesn't shift.

Hey guys,

I just finished replacing the conductor plate in the transmission and filled it. After, I unplugged the tcm and let it sit for 15mins then plugged it back in. still didn't reset it. My manager at work has a snap on diagnostics computer, one that a shop uses, would that be all I need to reset it? Is there anything else I can do before hand? Thanks!

Eric

Did you ever get the engine codes read? The answer may be just in front of you if the check engine light is on and maybe even if it's not on.

If I'd have to make a guess I'd say a solenoid is stuck.

When I originally scanned it, I pulled code p0715. "Turbine/Input Shaft Speed Sensor Circuit"

Replaced the plate - filled it with the proper amount (checked with dipstick tool) made sure I spent a good amount of time in each reverse, neutral and drive as well. Still every time I change gears, it jolts.

Unplugged TCM (little black box by the passenger floorboard) I unplugged both plugs and let it sit for 15 mins. Afterwards, it shifted a bit harder than before I unplugged it. But still not as hard as when it originally got the problem. Originally it would slam gears and the whole car would jolt. Now it doesn't slam them as hard.

I cleared the code with my basic scanner before trying the tcm reset - code came back on immediately after a test drive around the block to see if it would come out of first gear. Well it did not, and the manual mode for shifting does not work either. So still in limp mode.

My manager at work has the snap on scanner with the 39 (I think its a 39 pin) connector to check it out. Hopefully that will work.

So as of now I still have the code p0715

Quoted from Benzworld forum

"PO715, means you have to clear the code with ONLY a Mercedes usuable scanner.

And........................

You might need a connector and conductor plate.

But you HAVE to clear the code with a Mercedes scanner or the trans WILL NOT shift."

Looks like I'll have to wait and see until I get it cleared with his snap on scanner. Makes sense
