Help Convincing Dad!!
I'm 17, and living in lower NY state, and looking to get a crossfire as my first car. I've saved up $6,500 through work, and need my dad to help me by consigning for the car. My mom is for me getting the car but my dad refuses because he says its totally unsafe. I found the perfect black automatic crossfire coupe in the next town over with 60,000 miles at $9,000-a great deal. I just need your help pointing out things about the car that can change his mind on safety. I already told him I wouldn't drive it in the snow(for the 2 times we actually get snow a year), and all help is appreciated.

Explain to him that the car is essentially a Karman built version of the SLK320 Mercedes. One of the safest cars in the world. Unless you are buying the SRT6, it is a rather modest sports car with the acceleration of a Camry.
Our club membership has had numerous examples of serious accidents where the occupants walked away.
The NA Crossfire is not a race car, it is not a good drag strip car it isn't even as fast as a Mustang GT.
It does have five air bags and the coupe has an all metal roof.
Seriously,,,it is a Benz under that slick skin. 100%
We are talking practical and reliable.
And the best bang for the buck you will find.
Mileage is 26 to 28MPG on the highway. There are very few aftermarket products for enhancing HP because there is little market for them.
I am not making stuff up to please your father. Most guys here will attest to what I have posted.
If you have $6,500 in hand you really aren't that far from paying cash for a car worth twice what you put on the table. $8 to $10K will get you a nice one.
That black coupe at 60Kmiles is just broken in. And it is a pretty good deal. But there are many around at that level.
There is a passel of guys here who will help you find one, price it right and tell you how to fix whatever breaks. Stay tuned here on this Forum and stay on mission.
Don't let the old man talk you into a sensible Ford Focus.
BTW, The Crossie isn't that bad in snow. I drive mine daily and we get lots of snow in St Louis.

Tell Your Dad that I can't think of a safer, better built car for the money than a Crossfire.
With over 32k members on the forum, (as Franc pointed out) we've seen more than our share of accident photos. I can only remember 3 fatalities.
One guy commited suicide by driving his roadster off a cliff into the Grand Canyon, another was speeding down a city street in Russia, and got T-Boned by a truck, and one guy was running from a DUI check point (probably drunk) in his SRT6 when he lost control and hit a big truck head on.
These cars are built like tanks, one car was hit by a train, and it still looked like the driver could have survived the accident, even if she hadn't been able to get out in time.
Besides being very well built, it's an ideal car for a teen, because it only holds one other passenger. Less chance of you being distracted while you are behind the wheel.
Oh, and tell your Dad my Daughter bought one too.
Good Luck

ACCELERATION OF A CAMRY !!!!! No I dont think so, unless its been along time since I drove a camry ! but these are really safe cars !!!!! If you get the hard top !!!!
Ed you're absolutely correct Franc was wrong, the Camry is faster (in the 1/4 mile).
Fastest dragtimes NA crossfire without a whole lot of mods or Nitrous: 2004 Chrysler Crossfire Coupe 1/4 mile Drag Racing timeslip specs 0-60 - DragTimes.com
^This lmao
To the OP, Franc and Firemax hit the nail on the head.
The craziest thing I keep thinking of when people ask if these cars are safe is when John (BoilerUp) landed on his roof!!! That's insane! And he was fine!
I swear my camry is made out of cardboard and it's a 2000! It's running on newer technology than our cars lol. Only 2 airbags, and the year I have had it and the 13 years my mom had, that sucker was breaking down MONTHLY. I have never had a problem with the crossfire, used with 60K miles, now with 76K, other than it not having enough power lol.
Oh and the Mojave desert heat exploding my window because I didn't crack it.
