Default Another no start issue.

I left my house to grab something to eat, car starts up normal, drive to bbq place, its not open, so decide to go elsewhere. I never stopped the engine, just left the parking lot, stopped at a stop sign, go up a block to the redlight, stop there to wait and the car suddenly shudders a couple times and dies. Tried to restart, nada, starter will turn over, just wont even sputter.
So after pushing it into a parking lot (fun) and getting it towed home, I gotta get this thing fixed. I am guessing the Cps went out, I have two older grand Cherokees that both had the same problem. I ordered a new one from Chrysler, as the nearest M-Benz dealer is in Dallas.
I tried to pull codes, but couldn't connect my scanguage to it, I haven't connected it before, its usually in my Bronco. I don't know if its unable to connect with the ecm because of it being old, or a M-benz or what.
Btw the PO did have the notorious relay control module replaced.
Any other ideas what could cause this sudden problem, I am replacing the cps regardless, just kinda hoping its the problem tho.
Thanks!

You are most likely on the correct path with the CPS ( or CPS connector ).
I don't usually do CPS, but when I do, I prefer Bosch.
Kidding, make sure you get a Bosch CPS.

All these people with CPS failures - me? - 97000 miles and no trouble iwth my CPS.

I guess the way to keep the CPS working is do what I do: Carry a spare Bosch CPS in the trunk, as I have done for three years - seems to keep the one in the engine working.

Careful Mark....you don't want to Jinx yourself...Also remember to carry the tools needed to replace the CPS. I have a box in the back with all that will be needed should this happen to me.

I got the new cps installed today, of course it fires right up. $226 dollars for the new part, holy crap! At least it does start a little better.
With the jeeps at least it went out gradually, this one just cuts out instantly.
My scanguage still wouldn't connect, guess its time for something else, maybe the Bluetooth setup. So I ended up resetting the cel by disconnecting the battery.

Take the RCM out and re-solder the joints if you have not done it already. New or old they all seem to suffer the same weakness.

I just checked mine and I am at 57k miles 3rd owner only had 3 weeks. You can tell a previous owner has done this already. So that makes.

1. Steering dampener replaced (don't think it needed it)
2. Checked RCM solder joints (already done
3. Ignition lock mod (cannot do due to recent back surgery)
If anyone in the North Ga, Kennesaw Ga area could help me replace the cabin filter and do the ignition mod I can pay you for your time. My key definably has a hitch or catch in it when trying to first turn it. However once it has turned once it is smooth as butter off and on until I remove the key and try again.
