Clanking
I'm sorry, but I don't know which technical 'group' to ask this. And again, Search was not helpful, though I don't have the patience to go through multi pages to find a thread with either CV joint or U-joint bearings in the headings.
In the past I've gotten an occasional clank from the (left?) rear. Today coming back from about ten miles away, when at low speeds and I'm both shifting and turning at the same time, I get a very definite metallic clank. Always only a single clank. It is now quite frequent so something's loose.
I'm surmising either CV joint or worn U-joint bearings in the driveshaft. Or both?
If someone has experienced the single clank and solved it, could you point me to the thread or tell me what it was?
I wish there was a way to attach sensors to both the driveshafts and CV joints.
Also, is it okay to lift the rear of the car in the center where there is a thick flange for the dif?
