Default Calling all parts professionals!!

Its Mitchell again wanting YOUR input about my recent crossfire parts purchase! I ordered an ACDelco fan belt model 6k942 (should be serpentine belt , same #) and ACDelco water pump model 252-826. I was told to replace these by a coworker who said changing these together these will save me from hassle later. How true is this? Are there any other parts I should purchase with these?

Serpentine belt is a 5-10 min job, you can do that anytime.
Since you are doing the water pump, time for a coolant flush and 50/50 distilled water and Zerex G-05.
You could also do upper and lower radiator hoses.
You might also do the thermostat while you have it drained, your choice.

Hint: remove the plastic radiator fan module - gives you much more room,
but cut a piece of cardboard to cover the radiator so you don't accidentally stick a wrench into it.

I'm actually taking it to a mechanic for installation so I should request a coolant flush?

Your 1st post says you purchased this car in 2011 and have not driven it much since, I am assuming the miles on it are are not too high. If so why would you change the water pump? I would not bother with the belt either unless it is cracked.
Are you being told this by the same friend that said the Crossfire was an updated DeLorean?
If so my suggestion is to get a new friend, it will be cheaper in the end.

#1sith - I'm with 180 on this. I just offered suggestions on stuff you might also replace while you had the coolant drained.
Basically, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Good motto.
I think he needs a new friend and not new parts.

I live in the Orangeville, Ontario, area and need a new fog light glass cover. I priced one at the dealer and with tax it is close to $400. They also say that it's not an exact match to the original so they would advise buying two. Way too much money. Any suggestions?

Also, my mechanic asked me to ask on this forum how to reset the oil light....and the odometer flashes when the car is turned on saying it is overdue for an oil change. He has been unsuccessful at resetting them.

Thank you!

Go here (click) and download all sorts of manuals, Owners Manual, Service Manual, Parts Manual etc.

The fog light comes as a complete assembly, there is no replacement glass. You can get new ones for about US$210 on eBay or used ones from US$75 to US$125. eBay fog lights (click)
Sometimes used fog lights are on sale here in the for sale forum.
There are two types the old ones with a reflector over the bulb and the new ones without the reflector.

From a previous post by Andrew on the reset of the FSS indicator.
1. Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position.
2. Within 4 seconds of moving the ignition switch into the
“RUN” position, press the reset button for the trip odometer
twice within one second. The display for the FSS service
request is activated for 10 seconds
3. During the 10 seconds the FSS service request is displayed,
move the ignition switch to the “OFF” position.
The FSS service request will continue to be displayed.
4. Press the reset button for the trip odometer and
hold.
5. Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position
6. Continue to press and hold the reset button for the trip
odometer (about 10 seconds) until the audible signal
sounds and the new start distance appears in the display.
The tool symbol should disappear at this time.

These are the rest of the pictures I took at Dixie Chrysler.

Yes - that light as well won't go off. My mechanic had the owner's manual in his hand and was unable to get it to go off....

You have a problem.
There is a sensor that fails, hopefully it is not a lack of oil pressure.
The mechanic did put in the correct amount of oil? It should be 8 liters.

Check on the dip stick and make sure he didn't over fill it. I know these cars hold 8.5 but i once overfilled mine. I assume the mityvac didn't quite extract all of the oil.

I may be able to help you with a fog light. Which side fog light do you need . . . driver's side or passenger's side?

Also it sounds like you need to find a different mechanic . . .

It is the RH passenger side that needs the new fog light. That would be great if you can help me out!!

It has had a couple of oil changes since the wrong oil so it should be all out by now....the last oil change was less than 2 weeks ago. It has been a long time now that the oil light has been staying on.
