Default Overheating, Stalling, Rough Idle, Engine Light On

HI - new to the forum and have seen some related threads with some of my symptoms or all of them but for the SRT so the fix might be different. I have a NA 2008 Crossfire with about 30k on the clock.
Car runs well from the start but i am sure it should be quicker than it is. However, as long as I don't stop and air is running over the engine its fine. If I park up to go shopping - 15/20 minutes later its running rough, stalling, engine light on for a few days - once its cooled down back to normal. Whenever I get fuel bonnet (hood) up so the heat doesn't build up and so far so good. In stop start traffic you can see the temp rise and the engine starts to get lumpy and can stall. When I first noticed the problem (like you can miss it) I did a quick search on the net and the crank position sensor was mentioned so I changed that. Didn't make a blind bit of difference. I then did more research and found that I could in fact embark on replacing every piece of my engine and still not solve this problem. Its definately related to heat and the nearest thing I have found that matches what I am experiencing in heat soak. Any help out there?

Peter

Dumb question : have you replaced the thermostat ?
Another dumb question : is the fan running at high speed when the engine gets hot ?

I have an UltraGuage on mine that shows engine temp.
Normal ( for me ) is 186 cruising with A/C off.
195 crusing with A/C on.
202-210 stopped with A/C on.
195 - 205 stopped with A/C off.

U say it is getting hot, how high on the gauge.
Overheating engines is very bad, especially aluminum heads and engines.
Low antifreeze, waterpump, thermostat, pinched/crushed hose.

+1
Check all of the above. Sounds like the thermostat or the waterpump. Could also be the fan is inoperable.

Check the overflow tank to make sure the level is correct. Check the codes if the engine check light is on. Have you ever had the coolant replace? If so, did they use the correct coolant and distilled water mix? Lot's to check..........but it sounds like it's not circulating and hence the issues with the temp and resulting operational conditions.
