Default standard radio

is real bad thought about caps decided to go with new radio. I got a Sony HD radio from Crutchfield never had a replacement go so easy and now the truth the speakers in the car are fine just needed the kick from a good radio cannot believe the difference now a joy to drive the car. One thing if you order from Crutchfield do it by phone tell them if yours is a coupe or conv. the conv. requires a different plug-in than the coupe

LOL.. wished I'd have known before I put my wife's stereo in last year.. I used the same parts that I used for my coupe. Just kills me how modern day seems to supersede past and proven.

Here's another clue.. ever see an Ebay add.. or "for sale" here that specifies coupe or roadster??

Not BS, Mr. the coupe can be hooked up with the use of RCA plug-ins the roadster you have to WIRE directly to the radio NOT in the RCA ports

Guess you haven't read through the threads.. you CAN use rca ports off the head unit regardless of coupe or roadster - and you can use speaker leads regardless of coupe or roadster. The deciding factor is your own preference along with the 4v vrs 2v output of your new HU. Let me guess.. they hooked you up with RCA connector... and that's because it's all they offer. Been there done that and hit ebay for the speaker lead connector. BOTH my roadster and coupe are hooked up via speaker leads. But I'm sure Crutchfield knows more about this than what 10 years of forum experience.

Mr Gerry, I think you are confusing the 'base' model coupe or roadster with the Limited or SRT6 models.
The base model has a different head unit ( easily identified by the black control ***** ) and no external amplifier or subs behind the seats.
As far as coupe or roadster, in either case the head units are the same, and they wire to the amplifier or speakers ( in the base's case ) the same.

If a replacement aftermarket head unit has 4 volt pre-amp outs ( the RCA plugs ), then they can be used to drive the Infinity amplifier, but if the pre-amp output is 2-3 v ( which seems common these days ), then you have to drive the amplifier with the speaker wires.

I've had plenty of coffee today! LOL..

I'm not going to argue the point any further .. think enough has been said that anyone finding this thread next month will at least look a little deeper into things other than "cause this guys says"..

We just need a delete button for wrong information threads..

Didn't even think about base models.. but where they are concerned there still is no difference between install on a coupe or roadster.

If you buy a HD from Crutchfield............you have to hookup the speaker wires from the new head you CANNOT use the rca the sound will be real low. Crutchfield did supply the plug with wire hook up no rca so if go to Crutchfield tell them if it's a coupe or roadster. The rca's are for the infinity system only. Sorry these are the facts. Don't believe me??????????? check with Crutchfield

Don't have to. I have had 4 different head units in my Limited roadster:
1. OEM Becker non-nav unit.
2. Sony Model No. CDX-GT54UIW ( has 2v pre-amps, had to use speaker wires. )
3. Blaupunkt Melbourne ( plug & play )
4. Alpine IDA-X001 - ( has 4v preamps, I could use the RCA jacks. )

I'm done here.

I purchased a Blaupunkt from another member some months back.
Liked the idea that it was to be a simple plug and play.
It wasn't.
I was replacing the orginal unit that had a cd and gps in it.
I had to buy an antenna adapt and a plug adapt.
Works fine
The Blaupunkt had been used by previous member in his Crossfire and had been plug and play.
Can not explain why I had to buy adapts but did.

Too funny.. Crutchfield sent me the rca adapter to use on my wife's roadster with a Kenwood HD radio.. so worship the ground "they" walk on if you must.

And if you would have paid attention even in this thread.. 4V vrs 2v as a deciding factor was mentioned.. not because I like the way it looks in print.

THIS is 'YOUR' difference.. not HD.. not coupe vrs roadster. You had no options for RCA with only replacing the head unit. You might be a little more specific when you decide to tell "us" how things should be done.

The two OEM radios use different antenna connections, I had to get an adapter when going to the OEM Navigation equipped radio from the Limited OEM radio or rather bluecoupe got it for me.

I think this is the adapter.

Don't know where you get "Tonto" from Princess.. but I read enough to figure out where your ignorance was. That is beyond the reading skills you've shown.

Really.. you want to continually prove my point? Just post "I'm a moron".. might try reading (or have someone who can read to you) and see who posted they did 4 radios. I've done 2 radios.. 1 each in two of my cars and leaving the 3rd cars Nav. unit in.

Now princess.. try to come back with something that at least hints of some intelligence instead of just fueling what I already know about you..
