low tire prs. light on in cold weather
every morning when i first drive in cold weather the low-pressure light comes on , then goes off after the tires heat up . anyone else have this problem ?
its just the cold weather making you lose pressure, after you drive for a while the tires build up pressure and the light goes off. this is normal. just check your pressure once a month and you should be fine
Exactly! I vowed that I would garage the car for the winter, but had to take it out 2 days ago. The high was in the teens here and the low pressure light was on, so I raised the pressures up 2 lbs. They were around 28-29lbs, but I didn't want to put too much in because of the cold tires. Actually, I was surprised that the light was on with that much in them. Adding air didn't eliminate the warning light, but after driving for a while, it went off. Then after being parked for a couple hours in the cold, it was on when I left, but went off right before I got home, about 1/2 hour later. (But I was driving kind of slow, because it was snowing and the roads were slippery. Had the roads been dry and I could have driven with a little more fun, I'm sure it would have gone off sooner
)
Now it's back in a heated garage, hopefully spring will get here sooner than later!
I think that so long as the light goes off, you should be ok, but if it doesn't, you might want to check the pressure yourself to make sure it's not too low.
