Cruiser - I am not sure which dealership you go to but I bought my car from Elk Grove Chrysler and I always take it there for service. They have a great service department and fix any problems you have. They have never given me the brush off. Go in and ask for Steve Rinelli. He should take care of you.

 

Well I know I posted earlier saying I didn't have this noise, but I just had the cars first service @ 12,000 miles and since the service I now get this noise. So they must have done something as I didn't have it before.

 

I've not got the whistling noise. Am coming up to the 24,000 miles service. Will ask them to add this optional extra.

Seriously though, the guys at Weybridge and Farnham (depending which dealer I go to) are pretty good. I will ask them about it, and post if they have any idea.

Odd that it seems to just start like that. Whistling is usually caused by air being blown through a restriction. Similar sounds could be transmission (i.e. rotational) problem - although a sticky handbrake/warped brake disc might also have a similar sound.

Can anyone who gets this please confirm that if happens with windows open AND shut?

 

For the first time since ownership of my ’04 Crossfire Coupe, I heard a whistling noise. Not a small wind noise prevalent with the drivers window, but a howling earsplitting whistling noise that even covers up the sound of my radio. I turned of the radio to see where it could be coming from. Well, it was all over. I then pulled to the side of the road to see if any thing was loose or open. Nothing. I then pulled back on to a fairly smooth road and took off, and the noise was most noticeable starting at 40 mph to an ear piercing 135 mph.

Is any else (still) experiencing this noise, and if you experienced it earlier and aren’t any more what do you or the dealer do.

 

I have a 2005 autostick and a coupe, no noise and I have had it up to over 90. I also only have 3,500 miles on it but it is 7 months in my possession.

my question to the whistlers are they all 2004 or are there any 2005?

 

Could it be the spoiler coming up?

 

I don't believe it's the spoiler. Yet, when I was driving it today there was nothing.

going to service this monday 26. will see what they will do.

 

Hmm, try turning the volume up on the stereo.
I find that cures most irregular noises - even passenger noise!

 

I also have this noise - it is a whine coming from the rear end and comes on about 60 mph and gets progressively louder with speed. Letting off on the gas makes the noise go away, so I'm assuming it's the differential. Haven't taken it in for this problem yet, and I doubt they'd do anything about it if I did.

 

that can be the most annoying noise to come out of my crossfire kinda sounds like "slow down"

Nope not wind. That is what your dealer will blow at you.

This is a common issue to some of these cars. Definitely differential whine. Gear backlash is the technical term. My five finger dealer is giving me the run around on this right now. "Hmmm nothing mentioned in the tech connect" and "let's go for a ride and see if I can hear it" I am not pushing it just yet, because I really don't want these flunkies wrenching on my car. As long as it doesn't get worse or the rear end seize up I am not too concerned. 7-70 should take care of it if it does go bad. Nice to see that others are experiencing the same type of whine.

Of course Chrysler won't admit it. I remember reading on the MB boards of a guy with a SLK that had the whine. MB promptly replaced his rear. This is why these cars were so much less money.

 

Sorry to bump this but I was wandering did anyone get this issue fixed b/c it's driving me batty. I don't normally listen to music I prefer talk radio, so I hear it all the time.

 

Had mine in 4 times.

1. Changed front seal helped front noise a little.
2. Adjusted door for rear door/window noise. made it worse. They claimed it was from the rear view mirrors and that's a good as it gets. I told them it was not correct but who was I the tech test drove the car a whole 5 miles after 3 months the rear of the window ripped the foam seal, oh yea and they returned the car with a large ding in the drivers door. They had to send a paintless ding guy out to my office to fix it.
3. Replaced ripped rubber seal re adjusted door, as I got in the car I noticed that the entire door was now higher than the rear jamb.
4. Back to shop to readjust door, somebody backs into front of my car, their comment was sorry, bring it back next week and we will fix it.
Door is square to the body still have wind noise car has not been back to a chrysler dealer.

I know this post is really old but has anyone actually figured out what the problem is. My 2004 Automatic has the same high pitched whistling that is coming from the bottom rear of the vehicle. It is very noticeable at hwy speeds and only goes away when you accelerate or take your foot off the gas. It still makes the sound when the cruise control is on. Basically whenever the accelerator is compressed or held constant.

My mechanic said it could be a lose baffle in the exhaust and the sound is the air squeezing by and causing the whistle. Or weather it is the rear axle both options sound expensive to fix.

OK! Enough is enough... I have a very high ptched whistling noise that happens when air conditioning / heater fan is turned off! - Even on tickover!!!! - When I turn the fan to first position - the noise stops. When I turn the fan switch to next position - still no noise. When I switch air con on, the noise is back again. This happens at all speeds but is more constant at tickover & 30mph - Pls help, I've lost my hair already!

 

Hi, just wondering if you ever got a resolution to the noise with the A/C on, am experiencing the same thing and wondered if you had found a fix?
