Auto vs 6 spd Poll
Yea we can agree to disagree and you know what I mean and I know what you mean; however, depressing that clutch / disengaging the engine from the trannie in syncronization with the manual shifting of "steel" gears and then engaging the clutch / engine again is what real shifting is all about.
I know we're getting a little techie here but there is a distinct difference.

Only because Benz doesn't make a great stick I got the ok one of the best autosticks.
The dealer here still has one XF of every color in 04s with 6 speeds ,no autostick 04s left .

Although M. Schumacher is still the best, I think we can agree that Formula I car technology took a lot of the driving skill away from the driver. In that arena, the car does a lot of the work and the driver gets a lot of assist. I'm not sure that is a good thing for the sport and the fact that they are reassessing a lot of that technology and related costs attests to that. Anyways, that is a different subject.
same subject, it makes the point that this is not a case of right or wrong, just preference and varying desires by the owner. If the guys touting manual as the only viable choice would get off their high horse and stop trying to make automatic owners feel less about themselves we would not need to look at this subject so harshly. that would allow for us to discuss the pros and cons for what they are. Each has benefits that are worth considering. People who think manuals are the only true way to drive a sport car should do their research. Automatics are pushed by the manufacturer and sell better every year hands down. Ferrari, Porsche, BWM, Mercedes, Audi have all pushed electronic shifting as the new future of driving.
Did I hear that $1,000. is being given to the member who is voter number 110???????
Whoever you are, you will have to wait for your check!!

Mine was an impulse buy...the local dealer was having a huge sale, so hubby and I thought we'd look at trading in the '04 Jeep GC for an '05 ...I financed at 0% so, really, if I could get one year newer for the same monthly payment that would have been great, but...the payment would be higher...
so, a yellow roadster caught my eye! I had a "toy" already, a 1999 Miata, 5 speed (convertible) Bought it in May of '98, had 9200 miles on it...yes, less than 10K..never drove it because I hated all the shifting, going to work, you have to stop every hundred feet or so for lights, people turning, so we were dead set on a automatic. We found it! Loved my Miata, it was so much fun, but the shifting was killing me! Did not go to the dealership intending to trade in my baby, but like hubby said...what good is a toy if you dont want to play with it?

I wish they'd hurry up and drop $10k off those SRT6s.
Hey what's a BWM ?in post a couple up
I have owned many manual trans vehicals. this auto stick I belive Is the closest to manual as you can get. It isn't the Same as a slip and slide power glide. And I can take a corner I belive as fast as I could a manual. In the older sports cars I give you that is why sports cars were manual For handeling. Oh and One more thing now Dragsters are using and have for years an type of auto shift. I'll name one company B&M Hydro transmissions in the 60's a manual couldn't shift as fast or as positive. Take note ricky racers.

cybergreg is a crybaby, what the hell, he started the shittalking on manual vs. automatic by attacking me, autostick is not a maunal therefore its not shifting, its pushing a damn button, sure both transmissions have their pros and cons but i stand by the fact that if you bought this car for a sports car like i did there is no other way to go than a manual transmission. if you own a corvette or something completely awesome, or maybe you bought this as a commuter, or for the wife to drive too, then i can forgive the fact that you bought a automatic SPORTS CAR.

Here is a quote from Forbes:
Doug Worrell of Mercedes-Benz USA's product management department said at the media introduction for the new 2005 SLK that "we have been criticized in the past for having a sloppy six-speed transmission."
