Cool Re: Auto vs 6 spd Poll

If I drove a XF only a couple times a week and if it had the new SLK 6 spd. I would have a least tried the manual but ,I'd buy the autostick.

If I drove the Xfire only a couple of times a week, I would have bought the AUTO trans and wouldn't have cared less.

Cool Re: Auto vs 6 spd Poll

Not much demand for those non-limited '05 coupes and roadsters; what was the price
difference for a limited over a basic?

I guess that is not enough to influence anyone back to the basic; most likely the dealers don't bother ordering the basic for their inventory, just the Limited.

So far the numbers voted for 2004 far exceed that of 2005;
To early to tell but we might find in the end that the number of 2004's sold was a result of first year impulsive buyers and things have cooled down somewhat for 2005.

Wait and see.
2004's = 100
2005's = 39 2005 Convertibles & SRT6 = 21

Actually, your chart shows 33 2005's. If you extrapolate that over the remaining 10 months of 2005, that would come out to nearly 200 2005's being sold. Like you said, though, too early to tell.

Sorry, you are right; I was counting the six who wished they were driving a 2005.

Talking Re: Auto vs 6 spd Poll

My first post.

Bought a 2004 coupe 6 speed 2 weeks ago today.
Love it. Only owned one automatic trans ever in my life. The 6 speed was abit to get used to but Now I think it is fantastic. I used to race a corvette in legal street drags in the early 70s with a lot of custom work on the shifter. The 6 speed was a bit uncertain at first but if you get to know where your shifter is you can move it quite easily and quickly. I am a purist when it comes to a sports car.
If I wasnt so old and mellow I would more agressively assert that putting an automatic in a sports car is akin to putting perfume on a pig. Just doesnt do the trick if you get my meaning.
